I got this game as a gift for my girlfriend who is obsessed with the whole Sims series. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and instead of hinting at a night out or a romantic dinner, her response was simple: "...I want Sims freetime". Well whatever keeps the old lady happy. She enjoys the game very much and recommends it to others.

Now the Sims can become even more realistic by having hobbies! Each Sim has a pre-picked hobby they enjoy. Some hobbies include: music and dance, sports, arts and crafts, nature, science, cusisine and tinkering. Now you can build trainboards (caution can kill Sims!), restore cars, hunt bugs, make pottery, you can now have secondary aspirations, and discover secret lots. Alot of fun, makes your Sims more unique! Pretty fun

This expansion is great. I love that you can fix up a car with another sim. That you can build up your hobbies and get a membership card for your hobbies, and visit those places. That you can enter contests. There are alot of thngs that will keep you busy with this addition. I FULLY recommand buying this product and I cannot wait for The Sims 3 to come out soon.

It's cute seeing their new hobby aspirations to fufill --
Currently my sim couple have the "NATURE" and "MUSIC AND DANCE" aspiration so in example I spend my time fuffilling their aspiration for Nature: Hunting bugs, Birdwatching, Gardening, Interacting with Pets, and pretty much anything outdoors. I also love that they can use their computers now to "blog about" or "browse the web" for their aspiration.

As for my "MUSIC AND DANCE" sim - you can usually find him at the ballet bar, playing the many musical instruments throught sims previous expansions and freetime (guitar, drums, violin, piano, karaoke, dance with someone)

Sims Free Time is really cute, lots of new places to visit, and more life-like activities for them to get into literature, arts and crafts, sports, culinary.

It's been a great expansion, kudos to EA GAMES --- the only con -- i noticed my game crashes alot for the "GAMING ASPIRATION" -- or when they visit the gaming hobby lot. Wierd....

Otherwise, I say if you didnt get this expansion, don't sleep on it.

Hi. I am an avid sims player. I have LOVED the sims since they first came out with the orginal game. I have most of all the expanisions and thought this one would add so much to the game itself.

When I purchased the game after reading the review I truly thought this would put so much dimension in the game and give them so much more to do as I play. Well, this was NOTHING like I expected. I believe I did set my standards to high based on the other expasions I have received for the sims.

First, this game Sims Freetime can get very annoyng. Every single time your sim picks up a new hobbie and advances with it, there is a telephone call from the "hobbie master", I like to call them. So if you have numerous sims in a house advancing in their chosen hobbie, then the phone will ring off the hook even in the early AM. Another thing I do not like about this game, is that it takes so much time for your sim to get going. Before the time would fly, for whatever reason its like time has slowed down with this expansion. As they do more hobbies, they need more replenishing as well.

I would only recommend this game to someone who likes to spend lots and lots of time with their sims game. Not an occasional simmer. If you want a fast paced game, dont bother buying this expansion... wait for the bathroom expansion, I think atleast that one would be worth buying and not slow down the game as much.
