I've been trying to replace my aging Easy CD creator 6 for a long time. I tried many of the popular programs, and didn't like anyone of them. I finally wound up with East CD Creator 10, and after giving it a two week chance I found it is basically like 6 but much better. Once you get used to it it is fairly easy to use. This product is not good. It took more than 1 try to get it to load correctly. Now it crashes. Constantly. My computer is less than a year old, I am running a 2.4 pentium IV with 2 ghz of RAM. The machine is not the problem. I have uninstalled and re-installed. Still crashes.

If you happen to own this product and plan on using it, the best advice I can give you is to save your work after EVERY step. That way when it does crash, you won't lose any of your work, just the time it takes to reboot and run the program ..... again.

- One Suite saves time, space and money
There's a lot of opinions and the diversity may be due to the wide range of computers and configurations. My new Epson printer doesn't even work with Vista so nothing can be taken for granted. Begin with your pc specs-- mine is a Vista 2GB RAM, AMD Turion 64 x 2. No where near top of the line but should be more than adequate for digital media. Disk Authoring is still the greatest strength in Easy Media. Everyone has their preference for digital editing, but I have not found anything more straight forward than Roxio's disk burning programs. Some people blame the program for makng bad disks but this program removes many user errors. It's possible to pick the wrong format for a disk and this program helps by recognizing the blank disk and listing the best possibilities. It is also more reliable to make a virtual disk and copy from there than to do a direct disk to disk copy. The track by track method is longer and more prone to errors. I did find that the utilities were able to fix some disk errors. No program can burn 100% error free so a good utility is essential.

Video Editing is more complete than I thought possible in a suite. First there are 2 completely different video programs. One is simple and can be used right away. the other--videowave is a complete video editor. I'm not attached to any other program so I didn't mind learing the ins and outs. In short it works by layers so you can take sections and add/delete sound and effects. Photosuite is much like other programs although it isn't for pixel editing. But it does have more advanced features than normal suite programs like quick redeye deletion, cloning, brightness and contrast adjustment. Audio editing is again complete if not the most advanced program available. I noticed the sound capture program which isn't so common. It makes playlists and also has the unique feature of automatic song info insertion. Is it too much? Maybe if you already have programs for digital media. For me it is much simplier to have all the programs together and linked. Also I don't have to worry about upgrading individual programs and can stick to the one suite.

- Wish they didn't mess with the back up feature
I would have given this program 4 or 5 stars had they not messed with its back up feature. I've loyally purchased Roxio products back when the back up programs were called easy cd creator. I went from version 4 to EMC 10. Although I have no problems with the other featurs (they work well) my biggest problem I hve with Ver. 10 is their back up feature. I've always used the previous versions to back up my files and folders on my system and the older versions,such as in EMC 7 which I used alot, used the windows explorer tree where you can specifically select a folder or several folders on your system that you want backed up. It was a simple way of backing up your system I"m just not getting this new back up feature in EMC 10. In their attmepts to make the Bkup feature simpler and user friendly Roxio sacrificed your bkup options. Now you really only have 2 bkup choices, to either select the drive path your folder is in and to select "all" files in that ONE folder to bkup, or put checkmarks in the different icons (productivity, email,music,financial, etc...)for the program to search out the associated files on your computer for back up. But what if you don't want, for example, "all" productivity files to be backed up on your system and yet you hve productivity files spread throughout your hard drive? your at the mercy of the program backing up all those files that you don't want and run the risk of not backing up ALL the files you REALLY WANT in THE SPECIFIC FOLDER(S) THAT YOU WANT TO BACKUP.

Personally I really really REALLY wish they kept the older bkup feature from the previous versions because it made more sense, especially if you know that you have 2 3 or 4 specific folders that you back up all the time. If that doesn't bother you like it does me then by all means purchase EMC 10 because its other features, that I also use, work very well. But if Backing up files constantly is your thing and if it does bother you then I would suggest either not purchasing EMC 10 and going with another utility program altogether, or not to use EMC 10's bkup feature and go with either a free utility you can either find online, or just use windows built in bkup feature, which is what I"m using now a days until EMC finally decides to put the old bkup feature back in future versions of EMC.

HOpe all of this makes sense to you out there, and I also hope Roxio is checking out these customer reviews.

I had a earlier version of Easy Media Creator, Creator 5, which work well with my MP3 player. This version, Creator 10, would not support the same MP3 player. Contacted Tech Suport and was told, the second time I called, that it must be my MP3 player. The second Tech Suport person I spoke to was trying to carry on a conversation with someone at his cubicle while talking to me. Would not be a problem if I was not paying $1.86 per minute for his time. Junk software, buy a media software that does what it claims to do.
