- easy to use
a very good product, easy to use, can record with reasonably clearity even in noisy places. I use it for ethnographic interviews and it has helped me a lot... though sometimes it would be better to listen to what you recorded on the computer if the environment in which you recorded interviews were noisy. I also got the wrong product(the VN-4100 one) for the first time, but then it came after I reported the problem. they have different numbers on the top right of the package, the size of package and color of the recorder are all different, I see many people have had the wrong one mailed to them, hope Amazon can distinguish the two better in the future. The only inconvenient part is that the USB is not attached to it, so every time you need to put the records on a PC, you'll need the thing(cord?) that came in the package.

This works great in the classroom, especially since my professors talk way too fast most of the time and i can't get down all the notes i wanted to. This way, i can listen in if i'm confused about something that was talked about weeks ago, and it has a good quality of sound. came perfect, and fast.

Have used Olympus recorders (capable of downloading to PC) for some years. All have been excellent, with major improvements in capacity. Probably a bit easier to use than earlier models. By far and away Best buy for the money. The high priced with internal USB is great for those who do not need to earn their own living or have some strange need for vast quantities of info to be stored on a device not really engineered for other than use as a recorder. I have seen these other devices, but saw no reason to purchase.

Simple voice recorder, have the standard functionality that you need for a lecture recording. Enough memory so you do not have to do daily offloading.

Bought this for minutes in our meetings...it works great and plays back at varied speeds so you don't miss anything. The size is perfect and unobtrusive.
