I really liked the 2004 Version of the M/S Streets and trip, but I needed the updated map database so I also bought this 2008 version. I would have prefered that they left the options to same as the 2004 version. Some problems with this 2008 version is the street speeds can not be set to force a route. This was very good feature if I was planning a bicycle route, not on freeways or busy road. This method old method allowed me more flexablity to force a route.
I really like either program for the nice 11 inch by 17 inch maps it can print. This is much cleaner and larger then the current web base program. I also use the built in phone number list for hotels when traveling. a good feature. And finding the closest food when traveling.
Its a great program to have in a notebook computer.
My recommendation to Microsoft would be to leave the old 2004 version as is and just sell updated databases. The new versions runs much slower then the 2004 version because it forces X/P to load the very lastest version of update of Net/ Framework. And it seems to check the license when loading the program alot.

I've used Microsoft Street and Trips for maybe six years now, and I've always upgraded it when it's available.

You can type in the address of anyplace you're looking for, and zoom in at any resolution to see the location of your destination.

I keep folders of each city I travel to with all the customers' locations noted. There is also a place to note phone numbers and contacts.

I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to see just where some place is, especially if you want to see a destination in relation to other destinations.

But even if you're only looking for one place, it's good.

Seems there is nothing new on this version. Many major new streets and highways that have been open well over a year are not on their maps. I wanted it to upgrade from V2003 but it was a was a waste of money!

I use S & T 2005, and it works just fine, even with the slight interface issues. Every time I come to purchase the latest version, I am reminded that the copyright protection is annoying and dependant on online registration. I won't be spending my money on such a product which requires online registration. I am getting ready to replace my road warrior laptop, and I value my time too much to spend it trying to contact a MS representative to convince the phone drone that I legitimately purchased the software, and need to get my license enabled for installation onto another machine because I have purchased a newer laptop.

Combine that with the numerous comments that there is no improvement over content of UI design, then the reason to purchase is a no brainer.

I almost forgot, there are many reviewed comments that the products installation is unstable on many laptops. This last fact pretty much renders this latest and greatest version worthless IMHO.
