Electronics Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Domain Name Com's - Electronics : Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very happy with these headphones
First of all I must caveat my review in that the only prior experience I have had with headphones are earbuds or those cheapy things that you get on a long flight.

I travel a lot and got an ipod several months ago, so getting a good pair of headphones was a "must" purchase for me. I thought about getting the Bose headphones but the price stopped me. After reading about the Audio Technica headphones in a magazine, I read the reviews online and decided to get them. Less than half the cost of Bose so why not.

I am very happy with these headphones. They are comfortable on my head and ears. The sound is crisp and not static-y. I don't understand a prior reviewers' complaint(s) about noise leakage because there isn't any as far as I can tell. It comes with a nice case that won't damage the headphones when it is crammed into my carry-on luggage with everything else. I really like the fact the noise cancelling feature uses a AAA battery, and that I do not have to have it on to listen to the music. I was astounded how well they did on the airplane. I could actually hear every word of a movie (and I don't hear that well).

Time will tell whether they will last a good while but they seem to be of good quality.

I don't know if the Bose would have been better quality/ etc. but for the price I paid for the Audio Technica, I am very happy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Bose Killers
I bought these for an overseas 16 hours flight. My travel buddy bought a new pair of Bose QC2's and I bought these ATH-ANC7's at the same time. We were lucky enough to get seats next to each other for the flight over and we were able to exchange headphones for the duration of the flight. Needless to say the ATH-ANC7's did more than just keep up with the Bose, they surpassed the Bose in Noise Cancellng and sound quality. In all honesty the Bose did pump just a tad more bass, but that really is not an issue when you're sailing across the ocean at 35,000 feet. When you add in the fact that the ANC-ATH7's can be used for silence without the cord attached and they are just as comfortable as the Bose, they came out the clear favorite on the flight. Also, when you factor in that the ANC7's cost exactly half what my partner paid for his fancy Bose QC2's, I came out the clear winner on this one. His Bose are now on sale on ebay and he has ordered a new pair of the ATH-ANC7's. Definitely Bose killers in the first degree.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Working as expected
Finally pulled the trigger as my next transpacific flight is looming. I'm pleased to report that the headphones exceeds my expectation (bad press among headphones community against active noise canceling phones in general).

The active noise-canceling feature works very well. It reduces constant noise from engine, computer and AC etc significantly. It seems to push background voices (like those from TV etc.) to a distance, which makes them less annoying. The sound quality (with the noise canceling) is better than I expected. Punchy and clean bass, smooth mid and highs, even without break-in period. I like it better than my other benchmark budget headphones (Koss KSC-75, which requires extensive break-in to smooth out the brightness and Sennheiser HD-202. They're all much better than bundled ipod earbuds BTW) Without noise-canceling turned on, these sound markedly worse than these benchmarks (slightly muddled and compressed, besides lower volume at the same input level)

They fit my head/ears better than the HD-202 (better construction and more adjustable: the head band is part metal, which is bendable). Still they require some adjustment to fit properly, especially if you're wearing glasses.

Sound leak is a non-issue for me at my comfortable listening level. The leak level is between open-air (KSC-75) and closed (HD-202) designs.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - never received it
I ordered these head phone from Amazon on Aug 14th, and was immediately charged for the full amount on my credit card. The product was then shipped by UPS but I never received it. When I finally tracked the item, I discovered that they claimed they couldn't deliver it because they didn't have the correct suit number (even though I had given it to them). I sent a complaint to Electronics Expo, on Aug. 28th, and never heard from them. That is, until I posted my first review, complaining about it. Then I immediately heard from them, explaining that they would send it again. The pleaded with me to remove my negative review. So I did because I trusted they would ship it. Well it never came. Now I'm moving to England on Monday and it's too late. I'll never receive the head phones. It's especially embarrassing for me because it was supposed to be a gift for my best man.

I only hope at this point I can at least get my money back. It doesn't erase the embarrassment or time wasted or frustration, of course.

Good luck if you try to buy this product, or anything else from Amazon.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good Quality, value to money, but poor sound leaking
I have done some extensive research before purchasing this earphone. Compare with Bose, the price is definitely much cheaper, especially with some coupons and discount (only cost me around 40 bucks). The build quality is great, the size is big, but working amazingly well in noise cancelling business. But there is some pressure issue to me as well when not listen to music and use it as a pure noise cancelling phone, same to Bose. The battery life is amazing, I took two long flight (30+ hrs), and the AAA is still working.

Only two complaints from me: 1, the phone size is big, takes longs of my brief bag's space; 2, the sound leaking is very serious, if you listen to the music in a relatively quite room, everyone can hear your music, I mean they can actually hear what you are listening to. But in the very noise environment, i.e. Flight cabin, I don't think it is a big deal. As the noise level is so high, and you will appreciate that you make the purchase decision.

In conclusion, this is a great piece of noice cancelling earphone, and it does work amazingly. It is definitely a value to the money product. If you don't want to pay premium for Bose, this is definitely the best alternate in the market. Cheers.
