- "Better than Bose"?
...In some ways, but not in all. I am one of the many on here that was looking for a replacement for his Bose's that crumbled apart. While I can't determine how long these headphones will last, I can say the sound quality is not quite as good as Bose. The Bose's seemed to have more punch in the low end. However, at the price i paid for these Audio Technica's, I think I'll survive. I don't find noise-reducing headphones to deliver an optimal experience by design-- they seem to have a low-end flutter that causes ear fatigue after a while. I've noticed this in almost all noise-canceling headphones i've tried. Because of that, im not worried about the slight decrease in "punch" these headphones have.

However, these Audio technica's have a passive mode-- something the Bose's didnt have. Therefor they can be used without noise reduction if wanted, or if needed by the battery running out. There was nothing worse than accidentally leaving my Bose's on, and arriving to work the next day to discover the battery's dead, hence no headphones at all.

My favorite-sounding headphones I own are the Sony MDR V700DJ headphones. But theyre not best for me for the office, as theyre uncomfortable with glasses (not to mention drum-damaging loud). For the office, I think I'll be happy with the Audio Technica's. I hope they last longer than the Bose's. If they do, then they're well-worth the (sale) price.

the sound with the noise canceling on is very good, and the cancelation its grear, i used the boose many times and this ones are very similiar and it cost less than half price.

I purchased these headphones based on the reviews trusting that the brand was reliable. Well so much for that, right speaker is dead, so much for my wife enjoying any music from this now useless product. The head phones were lightly used in our home (no travel or reason to unplug the input cord) - after examining the headphones the problem is the input jack on the headphones.

Now I get to send them to Stow Indiana for repair...

I plug in to a couple lower-end Bose computer speakers. I have serious hearing loss at 61 years old. For the first time in years I can listen to music and enjoy full sound. I can watch a movie and not bother my living partner with the excessive volume. I can't imagine how these must work for a normal hearing person, I love them.........

First of all I must caveat my review in that the only prior experience I have had with headphones are earbuds or those cheapy things that you get on a long flight.

I travel a lot and got an ipod several months ago, so getting a good pair of headphones was a "must" purchase for me. I thought about getting the Bose headphones but the price stopped me. After reading about the Audio Technica headphones in a magazine, I read the reviews online and decided to get them. Less than half the cost of Bose so why not.

I am very happy with these headphones. They are comfortable on my head and ears. The sound is crisp and not static-y. I don't understand a prior reviewers' complaint(s) about noise leakage because there isn't any as far as I can tell. It comes with a nice case that won't damage the headphones when it is crammed into my carry-on luggage with everything else. I really like the fact the noise cancelling feature uses a AAA battery, and that I do not have to have it on to listen to the music. I was astounded how well they did on the airplane. I could actually hear every word of a movie (and I don't hear that well).

Time will tell whether they will last a good while but they seem to be of good quality.

I don't know if the Bose would have been better quality/ etc. but for the price I paid for the Audio Technica, I am very happy.
