I have no idea how good this game is. It would not run on XP (I haven't had any problems running previous games) and when I sent an e-mail trying to resolve the problem, their customer service sent me a note on what to do with a broken figurine(thanks!), which of course had nothing to do with the original problem.

So I now have an expensive coaster that I cannot do anything with.

I would suggest getting it on Xbox 360 and bypass the PC version.


Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great game!
I got BioShock from the Steam service last year shortly after release and played it through 3 times. Twice on a 5 yr old WinXp machine and once on a new Vista quad core machine. Zero problems with either. Its not a perfect game, but for me to replay a game, it had to be fun and a bit different each time. (Well, the story is the same each time, but you have many(!) ways to do the combat>) Its a bit on the easy side even with the patch which allows you to disable the super easy continue feature. I've heard people in general have had less problems with the Steam version, but that's just anecdotal. If you have any doubts, just buy it from somewhere that will let you return it if it doesn't work.

I bought it at release and it was worth the long dollar then.
At the price it is now, the only reason you have to not buy it is if you only play multiplayer games.
It does have an activation sceme, and it's a PITA.
But you activate it once, and once you start playing it, you'll forget what a pain it was to activate. Kinda like windows, a necessary evil.
Get it. It's a blast.



Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Had promise, but not very fun to play.
This game would have been fun had the developers placed more ammo around the levels and perhaps put some thought into the story line and installation. Seriously, why would a single player only game need a long, difficult affirmation process just to install the f*****? I had fun with this... for a while, until the game just decided to not use sound anymore (I still don't know why or how this happened). Eventually, I lost interest.

Gunplay 2.5 stars (out of 5)
Grahics 3.5 stars Come on 2k, its 2008!
Story 2.0 stars Boss battle after boss battle, whoopee.


Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best PC Game EVER!!
I played this game for about 3 hours a few nights ago and I must say this is the best game that I ever pruchased. The hype is true. This game was worth every penny. Believe it or not the system requirements are not as steep as some people make them out to be. I am running XP on an old Athlon 64 3200 with 4 gigs of ram and a Nvidia 7600GT video card and the game plays great at 1024 x 768 resolution. My only dissapointmet was the graphics were not a eye-popping as many reviews claim. Other that that this game will not disappoint.
