Software Microsoft OneNote Home and Student 2007

Domain Name Com's - Software : Microsoft OneNote Home and Student 2007

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome
I used onenote to organize my literature review paper for my graduate school work. I was able to link each of my journal articles to a page which held the quotes and notes needed from each article. Each page was organized by title and other bibliographic information which I was able to flag. I created my reference page in the paper by requesting all the flagged material to one page. The search feature allowed me to pull information from various journal articles without having to remember who said what. I won't ever write a paper without it. For the price, it is incredible.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Incredible tool!!!
As we grow into OneNote, I am amazed at all that we are discovering. The whole family is using it. I strongly recommend working through the OneNote Guide that they include with it. It is really very basic and it does a great job introducing the features.
Then you can sign up at Microsoft for some free e-learning to further learn about the full potential of this software.
Right now, Microsoft allows for a free download of a trial version to see if it is for you.
We were allowed up to three installs on our family computers.
Enjoy!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Indispensable info management tool
I have been using Onenote since it came out, and that means for several years. I find it indispensable. The handiest feature is the quick-launched "Side Note" feature, that sits in the tray at the bottom right of your screen. I can launch this little window with a click and type a thought immediately, or drag something (text and picture) off of the web. Anything you type or drag and drop is saved pretty-much immediately and automatically.

If you have Outlook 2003 or later, you can coordinate this program with Outlook.

If you are into learning or gathering information from all over and like to keep it and file it, this program is for you. You can collect and organize all sorts of information and later, if you wish, clipboard it into Word or Excel or other program.

The search function is handy too. You can search a notebook, a section of a notebook, or all your notebooks (you can create a notebook for each major subject area, like personal, work, art, music, vacation trips, etc.)

Very nifty program, well-thought-out and constructed, smooth-working.
Recommended.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - OneNote-a must have program
This is a fantastic program, with or without a notebook/tablet computer. If you buy one program, this should be it. Microsoft will even let you try it for free.

OneNote is a repository for any info you create, or come across on the internet including your email. On the business side, you can share your info with a team, and sync with Outlook.

Negatives-its search function is powerful, but requires Windows Desktop Search. This occasionally slows my older system down. Sometimes OneNote will freeze up, requiring a computer reboot. The good news is that it saves as you enter data, so I have never lost anything.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Compelling Application
I am not a big Microsft fan and usually find their products bloated with unneeded features, slow, and unintuitive. However, OneNote 2007 is a real gem and has quickly become indispensible. I was a prior user of OneNote 2003 (which was a good application), but OneNote 2007 is a true upgrade and is worth the upgrade price.

Some think OneNote is only for handwriting recognition applications. This is simply not true. I have never used the handwriting recognition features but find OneNote 2007 to be a very, very powerful and flexible organizational tool. The OneNote concept is based on notebooks (in 2007 you can have multiple notebooks which is a huge improvement). Essentially, you can create a notebook for your project. Then you can create tabs in that notebook. Then you can create pages within the tabs. For example, I have used the tool for internship-job searches. I create a job search notebook, tabs for locations, and then pages for specific employers. For each employer, I can create one or more sub pages with my resume, cover letter, research on the organization, job ads, etc.

What is so amazing about OneNote 2007 is that is breaks the usual rules for applications. It is disorienting at first to see how flexible OneNote is, and this flexibility is uncommon in computer programs. You open a page and go. No cumbersome saving, folder creation, styles, fighting with columns, fighting with tables., etc. OneNote allows you to WORK rather than spend copious time formatting. Send a web page or HTML clip to the OneNote page. Record a voice note and attach it to the page. Start typing anywhere on the page (no formatting or typewriter like limitations). Or draw a diagram. In Outlook 2007, you can even send emails to a page so you can keep correspondence with the project information. Then insert either a copy of a document (e.g., Word or excel) or insert an image than can be annotated of the document itself into the page for quick reference. Then create a task or to do list in OneNote and have it appear in your Outlook calendar or to do list. Very powerful. Then save your notebook pages to PDFs or send them to Word. Plus, you can quickly search across note books, embed hyperlinks in pages, etc.

As indicated before, I am not a Microssoft fan, but I am a huge OneNote fan. OneNote 2007 is truly amazing and is an exceptional organizational tool. If you tried OneNote 2003 and found it good but limiting, try OneNote 2007. It is vastly improved. You may quickly become addicted to OneNote.
