Domain Name Com's - Software : Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate FULL VERSION [DVD] [OLD VERSION]

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Crippled
Do not buy this if you have more than 3 GB of RAM (Yes 3, not 4, since the last GB of address space gets used by video memory et al). To use more memory, you'd have to install the 64-bit version. That version, however, is crippled - it will not work with any unsigned hardware, i.e. any hardware that does not implement copy-protection (a required of obtaining driver certification). It will not work with just about any audio and video card you may have.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - 64 Ultimate - total disappointment --> but managing s/p 2 months
Just purchased a brand new laptop with the works. The complaint nowadays is that vista is slower than xp because of the excessive luxuries it provides.

I thought that maybe if I purchased the 64 bit version, it might compensate for what others have complained about.

Now... I notice that MSN messenger 8.5 won't run due to a 80070005 error which if you google messenger with that you will notice that they have had this problem for a long time. So for microsoft incompatibility to issues to occur... I know that it's bad.

Then I went to install Palm desktop and engadget just posted in January of 2008 that they released a 32 bit version of the palm desktop for vista. So I'm a little shocked. I know that one should not judge or review a product based on other things... but vista 64 ultimate is a OS which is the foundation for which everything else runs.

With such incompatibilities with existing software, I would highly not recommend anyone invest in purchasing this software.

The speed of multitasking is useless when you have nothing to multi-task with :^)

Bill Gates needs to assist developers in compatability or go down with them for their lack of.

I want my money back. Grgrgrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!

s/p 2 months of use...

The sp1 package is now available for english and 5 other languages, others have to wait till April.

So... I resolved my issues with MSN messenger... (created a new admin account and deleted the default one)... yes a bug...

Purchased a western digital HD external... plugged it into 1394 and you'll notice more bugs. Visit WD and see trouble shoot external hard drive with vista and 1394 firewire.

Downloaded a hotfix and still haven't resolved the issue with firewire connection to my system. But lucky the external works fine by USB.

As for palm... well so many users complained of the striped vista version that I didn't bother trying... continue to connect my palm to my xp system.

While I am complaining... I cannot wait till the next OS comes out... seriously... this is dreadful... but maybe the Sp1 will make me smile.

Maybe if Microsoft would remember to hand hold with their developers so that things would work nicely... things wouldn't be so bad.

Hold off if you can... to what? 2009 or 2010? Please pray Windows 9 or 10 or whatever they plan to call it is a better program.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Crime Up On High
Windows Vista has many features which could have been accomplished with Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP... It appears with the appearance of Vista, Microsoft is desperate, and to me, the use of this useless software violates my Constitutional Rights and I'll try to be brief in explaining why;

1. The FDA supposedly inspects every Prescription Drug on the Market -10

2. Microsoft is building data centers and coincidentally the FBI is building a Billion Dollar Data Center, Patriots Act comes to mind. We the People of a Free Country are treated as Terrorists. -10

3. Ole Billy Boy Changes the definition of what is Oral and Bleep Bleep. A slap on the hand is apparently sufficient. Hillary scams people with Swamp Land and screws up Health Care, has the DoRights take the rap and runs for the Presidency. -10

4. The current President was a member of the Skulls, really auspicious in nature, New age Masons. Continues the Hunt of Bin Laden which is Futile since Bin Laden is in the service of the CIA. -10

5. Gates started out in his garage, dropped out of College and in the time screwed over partners. So much for the Intelligence Level of supposed Harvard Graduates... RFID -10

6. If you actually commit a supposed crime, which I don't, what do you think will happen? Boing, Slammer, Boing. -10

The List goes on.......

Microsoft committed plagiarism, copyright infringement, piracy, so forth..... The internet and the Software is open source in nature and is thus considered Public Domain. We buy the food, we eat the food, it is ours. Vista or any other software can have all the Eye Candy it wants but it still does not change the fact that XP, linux, OSX, etc. is still far superior. How many Politicians and Flunky Corporate Dogs so forth were threatened and/or paid off to allow such Crap on the Market and now Microsoft wants to bring the Corporations together to help the Poor and Feed the Hungry, if it's with Vista, they'll definitely starve to Death.

Installed Vista on many computers and bought a copy, other than from Microsoft, and will never install. The Schill thought of having such crappy software on my computer, brrr a cold day in Hell.

Why has parts of my review been edited. Microsoft Windows Vista implements Spyware within their products and restricts full use of their newest Operating System. The sections edited by Amazon were relevant within the Review. I bought the product and I should be able to review how I see fit.

"How much more of this eves Dropping supposed technology is going to be put onto the Market. Might as well Invoke Martial Law. I am waiting for the Second Great Depression with Open Arms than to use Microsoft Windows Vista. Technology for Freedom? Freedom over Technology? This is not strictly with Microsoft but since the subject is up which person and/or persons do you believe will be glancing through their Great Windows upon the Public Domain AKA Private Living Rooms, Bedrooms, Bathrooms... If they want to change the Definition atleast keep it out of our Living Quarters. This is our Land, Country, Homes, and yet ignorance follows few in restricting the Freedoms in which we work and Fight for.

Intelligence comes in many forms and Crime Up On High requires no form of Intelligence. I am now waiting for the Dark Room with a BlindFold." Just to add Steve Jobs Restricts the full use of the Mac so it's to Linux we go.

One other thing; OOXML should not be allowed as a standard format unless Microsoft opens their Source Code to the Public Domain. Not to be abused but to be used for development and advancement but not under Microsoft's watchful eye. I betcha if and when the source code is opened Microsoft will be liable for many more infringements than any other corporation, hint, hint, "Enron"

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Your worst nightmare
I have been using Vista on a laptop at work for approximately 8 months and I have almost completed transferring data from an XP home computer to a new Vista computer. I consider myself an intermediate computer user. I am not an IT guy but I can usually solve most problems that confront the average user. If you want to experience the most frustrating computer experience imaginable, then buy Vista. You will not be disappointed. I gave it 1 star because I did not have the option of giving it no stars. The "Easy Transfer" feature is anything but easy - and good luck trying to find your files when the transfer is completed. The directories in Vista are different from the directories in XP and it is very difficult to find the transferred files on your Vista machine and verify that the transfer was successful. Once you do start trying to find your files you will begin receiving messages that you do not have "rights" to open certain folders (a strange message when it is your computer). This is a security feature but there is a way to disable it. The bells and whistles on Vista will slow down your machine so make sure you have plenty of memory. Also, you will probably have to download patches to get some or all of your old hardware and software to work on Vista. Bottom line: do not upgrade from XP unless you absolutely have to, but if you must, consider buying a Mac, which is what I intend to buy next. I realize this will be starting over with a whole new system, but I have had it with Windows.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Windows Vista Ultimate-Great for Microsoft-Lousy OS for consumers.
I have been using Windows Vista since Beta 2 preview and while there are some things that I like about the OS; I have to say the minor annoyances have outwheighed the benefits. UAC is designed to protect users but it only slows things down. It defeats the purpose to shut it off but did it have to be so obtrusive.

I think that most that have purchase the "Ultimate" version feel ripped off when it comes to the Ultimate Extras. In Microsoft's description we were going to get: "Cutting Edge Programs: Enjoy Microsoft programs that are available only through Windows Ultimate Extras. Windows update notifies you when downloads become available."

"Innovative Services: Benefit from unique services that can help you tailor your computing experience to your digital lifestyle."

"Unique Publications: Download premium content that focuses on your Digital lifestyle. Discover techniques & strategies that help you get the most out of Windows Vista Ultimate."

I really don't think that any of this marketing pablum has been realized at all. I am sorry I bought into this garbage. I really don't think that Hold Em Poker(1 game), 35 Language Packs, Bit Locker and EFS enhancements, and lastly DreamScene. Are they worth it? A resounding NO.

I am now back to Windows XP Pro with a dual boot to Windows Ultimate. I hope that with the final release of Vista SP 1 will clear up the problems that I have experienced.

Stay with Windows XP as long as you can... Service Pack 3 is in release candidate.
