Domain Name Com's - Software : Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate FULL VERSION [DVD] [OLD VERSION]

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very broken
Not to beat a dead, stinking horse, but here's another Fun Vista Feature:

After indexing one of my drives, ALL searches now come up empty, even as I am looking at the files. This includes email searches within Outlook 2007 (which has its own share of issues, starting with its slower than molasses speed, even on an OC'd 3.2 ghz/2gig/PC8000 box.)

Well, I will say the failed searches makes you forget about the other little stuff, like your inability to save how folders look, or to know what the defragmenter is actually doing.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Be prepared to spend a lot of time making basic things work
I have spent hours and have yet to get my home network nor email working.

Vista randomly decides that my XP Home computers are not secure (even though for years Microsoft has been saying they are) and refuses to even show they exist. When it does show them, it still refuses to let me copy files to them because they are not secure. So, now per Vista's recommendation I have a full backup of my hard drive on that hard drive in case it fails (since it would be insecure to have it on another hard drive.)

So far it is unable in to install Office 2000. This would be fine except it refuses to import my emails until I install it.

Other key applications like my password safe, etc. are still unable to install.

It is, however, a very nice looking application to surf the web with. But, I'm not sure that's worth the money.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Ultimate Pleasure and Ultimate Security
I own Vista Ultimate and the support you receive from Microsoft is exceptional; please do not purchase any other operating system because Vista Ultimate is what you truly want for security and ease of use. I know the price can make you consider buying one of their cheaper versions but cut back on something else and join the elite Vista Ultimate end user society. I truly love my Vista Ultimate "Geek Love for Vista Ultimate, Forever".

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Once you disable the security, it's pretty allright.
I suggest people do a clean install not an upgrade install

1 GB is really enough for ultimate for basicish use (surf net etc.)
2-4 GB for gaming + some high end ATI or NVIDIA card
dual core- basic use
quad core- more serious use (ex: video editing)

You can always dual boot or tri boot XP Vista Linux
My specs:
Core 2 Duo E6600
NVIDIA Geforce 7900GT
2 GB dual channel RAM

My RAM ran a minimum of 300 MB once but usually 500-mid 600s with most features enabled (aero too)

User Account Control : Once deactivated, Vista isn't really annoying. (The "You are about to "perform this action" Are you sure? thing)

Security Center and Windows Defender---->Since I don't need it: I disabled it.

How I did it: serivces.msc disable the services!

Flip3D: It's ok...sort of addicting though
Aero: eh......It's eye candy.

Gagdets: They really spruce up my desktop's feel..that's about it.

NVIDIA drivers- They work so far....but I'm not a gamer

Office 2003, JetAudio, Firefox, and AVG work fine....and it seems my sound drivers are working better than they are in XP.

ReadyBoost: I don't really care about it. I'm using it for the heck of it. Putting a USB drive in for cache.....

They could have given this to us in a service pack for XP

Really worth the 20 bucks I paid for this OS (through school).
but not 400 bucks.....
get home preminum instead.

Microsoft needs to learn that they need to not listen to the 95% of computer users who are noobs at using one.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Stick With XP
I still remember switching from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I was very excited about it. Finally, a version of Windows that didn't crash. For me, that was the main draw. Windows 98 was crashing on me about 5 times a day. In XP when a program locked up, you could just end it. In 98, it would end your whole computer.

Vista has no such draw. Yeah, it looks pretty and a few people might find some new feature that's useful, but it has nothing really important. And it's annoying as hell. The only thing more annoying than Vista is Office 2007. I don't know what I'm going to do when XP starts being phased out. Hopefully by then they fix the major problems with Vista and let users that don't need baby sitting turn off all the garbage. I don't even run anti-virus or anti-spyware software and somehow I never get viruses or spyware.

On top of this, there are compatibility issues that won't be worked out for a good year or so (naturally; it's a new OS). Run away. Far, far away.
