- No customization like in the PC version
First of all, the font sizes on a 17" high resolution screen are so tiny they are almost unreadable. Unlike the PC version, you have no control over font size, register color, etc. The small font size make the product unusable in my opinion. I shouldn't have to change my monitor resolution just to use the program. It should be able to run in a 1440 X 900 resolution with fonts that are big enough to see. I have requested a refund.

- Works just fine, no problems
I have been a Mac user for 20 years, but I also have used Windows, and I have used both Mac and Windows versions of Quicken. Over time, I have stayed with the Mac version because, frankly, I like it better. It doesn't have all the extras of the Windows version, but I consider that a plus. It has a straightforward interface, downloads work fine and easier than the Windows version, and it's easier to work with accounts and transactions.

I had been using Quicken 2005 for the Mac. Based on other reviews, I hesitated to upgrade. I decided to wait until Release 2. The installation and conversion worked fine. Everything transferred over without a hitch (I have six-plus years of transactions in 40-50 accounts, including some now closed). Since the upgrade, everything is running just fine.

I upgraded primarily for two new features -- the ability to do estimated taxes using the current tax year's numbers, and the ability to back up automatically to my .mac account. I had been backing up by saving a copy and then manually copying it to my .mac folder. The new backup is fast and easy, much faster than the old manual version. Also, making a local backup seems much faster than before.

In short, everything is working just fine. If you install the software, then install Release 2, then open your data file, you should have the same experience as I did, unless perhaps there is some pre-existing corruption in your old data. My data file is 7.7 MB, and it's working flawlessly.

- Not like Quicken for PC
I am a recent convert to Macs after being a PC only user and have had several years of experience with the PC Quicken version. When I converted to Mac's I thought I would purchase the Quicken version for Mac. Unfortunately, this software is totally different than the PC version. I was extremely dissapointed. First, the user interface is absolutely horrible. In the PC version, all accounts are listed to the left and are separated in different categories. In the Mac version, they are not. Also, while the PC version is pretty user friendly, this one is difinitely not. I have tried both Quicken for PC and MSMoney - Quicken PC is by far superior to MS Money, and Quicken for Mac is just pure aweful. An absolute waste of money (I got a refund for mine). What I ended up doing is loading Quicken for PC on my Mac through Parellels, and then run it in XP. I wish I could get a Quicken version for Mac that will run in native Mac OS since it is much superior to XP. However, until they develop one, I am resigned to using Parellels.

I have the 2006 version of this, so my comments refer to that. But I know Quicken and I'd surprised if they've changed it much for 07. I've used Quicken for decades and find it fairly straightforward, unlike the previous reviewer. There are things you have to get used to, but let's face it, that's always true. The problem with this particular version is that it's not actually written for Mac. It runs under Rosetta, which more or less translates it from Windows, and it doesn't translate it very well. This shows up in various annoying ways. For instance it often refuses to back up data. With any application this is irritating, but with a financial record it could be catastrophic. And occasionally the application will quit unexpectedly. So far I haven't lost any data, but it's probably only a matter of time. If you must have Quicken, get a PC. If you have a Mac, get something else. Sorry, but I can't recommend anything.

- Do not waste your money...
This software is not intuitive or easy to use. I've used MSMoney 2007 and am quite happy with it. I have used MSMoney for years in various reincarnations, but purchased this one for my significant other to use because she truly believes Mac's to be superior. Well, she stopped using the software after having it for 2 weeks because it was not easy to use.... So I'd recommend saving your money and managing it in some other manner.
