Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Come on EA get with the program
Come on EA get with the program!! Xbox and PS2 is yesterday's technology you need to come out with this game for today's systems Xbox 360 or PS3. What's even worse is you made this game so it is not capatible with the 360 I think that stinks...why not release it for Atari too as I am sure there are some of those systems still around.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - NASCAR 07?
First, one thing needs to be put out of the way before I start this review. NASCAR Racing 2003 by Papyrus for the PC is a vastly superior game, that's pretty much accepted in the sim racing world. However, comparing NR2003 to NASCAR 07 or other releases is like comparing apples to oranges. Platform games are, in nature, supposed to appeal to a wider audience than PC games, which is probably one of the reasons why EA's NASCAR releases are not as realistic as they can (and really should) be.
All that said, I bought this game because I had recently got an XBox and wanted at least one game I could play on it. I have not played NASCAR 06, I was somewhat scared away by reviews of it, but I do own NASCAR Chase For The Cup 2005 for the PS2. Needless to say, I was disappointed (but not surprised) to see little difference in how the cars in the game looked. Same old same old. Playing the game is much like putting on an old pair of shoes. Even with my limited experience using an XBox controller and the format which to accelerate and brake, I was able to get comfortable quickly with the game and be competitive in little time.
Some gripes about the game, I really hate the fact that you cannot use single or double digit numbers when making your own custom car/truck. You can only use numbers between 100 and 199. Absolutely rediculous. Secondly, I hate the phony field filling cars that are in all the divisions, I always have. I don't think that adding a bunch of lesser known drivers would do anything but help the game. It would be fun to try to take Morgan Shepard's car to the Nextel Cup title. Also, it is pretty disappointing that there are so few real teams and drivers in the Busch and especially the truck series. And the lack of alternate paint schemes for Cup drivers is pretty disappointing too.
Continuing with the gripes, I fail to understand why the trucks still all look like a Ford F150. Why can't EA get the rights to make the trucks have their own shapes like the Cup and Busch cars do? It can't be that expensive if it is at all. Also, the fake sponsors in the game are just stupid. I never use them when making my own cars. Only real life sponsors should be in the game, not a bunch of phony ones. To round out all these complaints, I noticed that Nazareth Speedway is in the game. Unfortunately that track is no longer in operation, so having it in the game makes no sense whatsoever. We do get the wonderful Old Spice road course though (rolling eyes) but we don't get tracks like the Nashville Superspeedway, Kentucky Speedway or the road course in Mexico. It also would have been nice if EA could have added the new version of Las Vegas Speedway (even if it wasn't 100% accurate) and a repaved version of Talladega Superspeedway.
All that said, I still play this game and I have fun with it, even with the faults and inaccuracies this game has. If you've enjoyed the other releases of the past, then you'll more than likely enjoy NASCAR 07 too.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Just 06 repackaged with new cars.
First of all, something really needs to be done here about morons giving things five star reviews before they're even released (see the review of this game that was submitted in June).

Now, on to my review of NASCAR 2007.

I've owned most every NASCAR game dating back to NASCAR 99 on N64, including the Papyrus NASCAR games on PC. Those were amazingly done in terms of physics and depth of gameplay. Of course, I'd never expect a console game to be as good as a PC game so that's why I've had no problems with the previous EA Sports NASCAR games (even though anyone would be blind to suggest that these games are actually "excellent"). While the games themselves are pretty dumbed down from the said PC games that I used to enjoy (lack of car setup options, you can't keep control of your car on pit road or during cautions, no realistic crash damage, lack of advanced physics engines) the multiplayer aspect of these console games has always been what's made them so much fun. That being said, EA has failed horribly with the 2007 incarnation of their NASCAR series. They just keep releasing the same game each year with slightly overhauled graphics and some new gimmick feature that no one really cares about (allies and rivals, controlling team mates, etc.) along with new cars. What was broken in 2006 is still broken in 2007. The online play is buggy and the interface hasn't changed one bit. The 2005 online interface was actually decent, but in 2006 and 2007 optimatch does not work at all and you have to resort to having a friend invite you to a race or just doing quickmatch until you get lucky and wind up in a race you want to race in. There's also a bug which occasionally swaps cars between people in the race. For example, let's say I select the 12 car and Johnny selects the 8 car. If this bug were to happen to us I would wind up in the 8 car and he would wind up in the 12 car. Doesn't sound that bad until you realize that if I wound up the 8 car the game would consider the 8 car to still be Johnny, meaning where I finished in the race in his car would go on HIS record, so if I crashed and got a DNF, he'd be stuck with a DNF on his record as would I if he crashed my car. There are also problems with random people not being able to connect with other random people AT ALL. A good good friend of mine is no longer able to race with me because our xboxes just stopped connecting with each other one day. These are major problems that seriously ruin the fun that could be had in this game, and to me it's completely unacceptable that EA had a whole year of these bugs occuring in 2006 and they didn't care to fix them. It really shows that EA doesn't care about the game and they just want to keep releasing the same thing over and over with some minor new gimmick to get people to keep buying it. Another complaint I have is the feedback system. People are a lot quicker to send negative feedback than they are to send good feedback. The problem with this is that I briefly had a negative rep (XXXXX instead of stars) due to one person leaving me bad feedback but no one sending me good feedback. The problem with this? Piss one idiot off and you get a strike towards people being reluctant to race with you. There is no balance to this because the only time you get good feedback is when you ask your own friends to give it to you. This will be the last EA NASCAR game I buy unless the next version has some SERIOUS changes.

Oh, another thing. I was stuck buying the Xbox version because EA doesn't care about 360 users. How sorry is that? Money hungry EA won't even let us have backwards compatibility to play the Xbox version on our 360s just in case they decide to release a 360 version we'll be forced to buy it. You won't be getting anymore of my money, EA.

The one good thing about this game though is the removal of different car setups being used online, sticking everyone with very similiar cars (only variances being tire pressure and wedge, which are adjusted to suit the car's handling to your driving style). That really turned the online game in to a game of skill and careful driving rather than the person with the best setup blowing everyone away. More people are actually able to compete now and I've had some damn good races in the few days I've had this game. Kudos to you EA for doing one thing right.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome
This is the game we've been waiting for. I own every x-box nascar game since 2002 and this one is the absolute best. This one is a "Must Have."

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Oh boy I can't wait.
I hope this year the people of EA Sports add more Busch seires tracks to the game. Two of them are Nashville superspeedway and Kentucky Speedway. Please Ea sports guys put it in. I would also like to see the Nascar Autozone Elite Division to be in the game and the Busch North Seires. I would love to see inprovements like these as well as seeing all the pit crew on pit row besides my own. Hitting pit crew sould happen. Rain should come and red flags should come if their is a hudge crash. In options their should be a way to turn the game to complete control. You drive the car under caution, you drive and stop in pit road, and at Daytona and Talledga have a outbound line. EA Sports its in the game.
