This version so far appears the same as Money 2004 except for cosmetics, so in essence the $25 cost is a 2-year license fee for online account and stock updates. Still, while not very exciting, MS Money continues to be a useful tool for tracking accounts, spending vs. income, investment decisions and so on.

Online updates seem to take a long time, but unlike previous versions they can work in the background.

- Data sharing seems to be a problem
I upgraded from MS Money 2006 due to a bug that affected the way investment transactions are tracked. Credits into the cash account kept being reported as debits, and vice-versa. I would manually correct these downloaded transactions, only to have them re-appear next time I opened MS Money 2006.

Sadly, MS Money 2007 Deluxe seems little improved, if at all. While the above described bug has been fixed, new bugs are now present. Further, MS Money 2007 no longer integrates with MSN Money online; hence, all the portfolio data for investments must either be entered manually into MSN Money's online portfolio feature, or one simply accepts that the portfolio can only be accessed and maintained with MS Money 2007 on one's home computer. No more remote tracking of one's investment portfolio!

In all, it is not worth upgrading to MS Money 2007 in my opinion.

This program runs sooooo slow compared to Microsoft Money 2002. Whatever was done to improve this program sure has slowed it down. I am going back to 2002 with no regrets......

- Things I wish I knew before ...
Since 1998 I've been tracking my finances using Microsoft products, though for the first 4 years it was in excel only. In October, 2002 I decided it was time to start using something a little more 'user friendly' and chose Microsoft Money primarily because I ended up with a promotional CD mixed in with a new PC. The software then (as now) was a bit disorienting at first as it tried to convince me to set-up accounts, budgets, etc. There are still tons of features I have no interest, nor need, to use. However, there are enough useful features to keep me reliably plugging all my financial info into it. Unfortunately, some of the best features (e.g., downloading financial info online) is actually a sort of subscription that times out after 1 (for limited versions) or 2 years (for most versions). Sadly that's the only way I can download my Discover Card statements into the software (some financial institutions allow you to download files that you can import even after the subscription expires while others just allow online connections to update MSFT Money).

Now that you know my least favorite feature, here are a few of my favorites:
Budget - Great tool. Track your monthly performance and if you're like me update it annually. After you've got some expenses entered (a month or two), it will help you make a good budget.

Statement downloads/imports - No more entering by hand. Depending on your financial institution either connect online (great) or download and import your expenses.

Accounts - no matter how many you've got, it can track them all.

- Dammed if I can figure it out
So I load this program and set it up to download from my bank. It pulls all my data from 8/05 down, and displays it. Except it does not have the detail that my online bank records (like labeling where I used the my debit card) Anyway the next thing I know I can only see the current month transactions even though I have show all listed.
On my credit card it shows the correct balance, but does not show any transactions past 1/23 (today is 2/17)
There might be a way to make this program behave, but I don't know how to do it. It comes with little to no written documentation.
I am very unhappy with this program.
