Like all of Microsoft's products this one is VERY memory hungrey, but if you are a pilot, or a wanna be like me, it's worth it.

This is a good Product, how ever it requires a lot of memoery to run. I
have 2g of meomery and still it will stop and it till me i have not a enought memery. With all the seinery that runs you will use a lot of meomery. Outher then that ok. O" yes this is a large program.

- Most Fun Flight Simulator Yet
I've been the proud owner of Microsoft Flight Simulator for many iterations of the game going back to the 1980s (when I flew the aircraft using the keyboard on a yellow-and-black monitor). I have to say that this is the best Flight Simulator that Microsoft has ever released. It comes with a great collection of aircraft, the most detailed scenery yet, and, brace yourself, the missions are actually fun on this one. In FS2004: A Century of Flight, there were plenty of missions, sure, but you could not get the sense of accomplishment and fun you get in FSX. The key is to always accept special extras in the missions; they are usually pretty clever and certainly more interesting (using special effects!).

I'm running the game on Windows Vista with an Intel Core 2 2.33GHz x 1.33FSB processor, 256MB nVidia GeForce graphics, and 2GB RAM, and I have not experienced the performance problems others have stated.

This game is as exciting as actually flying-if what you mean by flying is sitting immobile in a middle seat on an endless boring flight.

I believed all the reviews that said that this game had amazing graphics. Let me set you straight. I have a Dell XPS M1710 (i.e. a great gaming laptop). I set the graphics on this game to maximum, and what did I get? Let me put it this way-I haven't seen worse graphics since the mid-90's. No matter where you fly, whether it is Paris or rural New Hampshire, this game uses the same square mile of generic suburban terrain over and over. Don't bother with the 3-D, either. I tried it over familiar terrain and became totally disoriented. Not that you would be able to see anything, anyway, because you can't see much out of the cockpit.

As a pilot, I instantly recognized the Cessna 172 cockpit, and because the graphics were so bad I quickly reverted to flying by instruments only (again, not very exciting). Although the cockpit dashboard is realistic-looking, a good part of the instruments don't function and are there for show only. Some switches are very important in real life, but do not produce any effects no matter how they are set in the game.

The aircraft handling characteristics are done very well, but this doesn't add any fun to the game. Think of a very realistic driving game where all you do is sit in traffic all day. There are two dozen aircaft to choose from, but in terms of handling characteristics, there are about four actual types. For example, you can choose from a 737 or an A321, both of which are about the same size and handle similarly. Nothing new or exciting there. Playing this game won't cause you to lose your luggage, but it won't cause you to soil your pants with excitment, either.

Instead of buying this game (and giving up 1/3 of your hard drive), consider instead going on Google Earth. The graphics are vastly better, and if you concentrate hard enough, you can imagine that you are in an airplane.

Don't buy this game, unless of course you are buying my copy from me.

- FSX won't activate
Google "FSX Activation Problems" and be prepaired for a torrent of hits. For a year-old product, this is unacceptable. The MS support site was no help, and phone support is now a 9 to 5 job. If you do call during their limited hours be prepaired for hour long waits.

The only good alternative is to find an existing crack - there, I said it. Too bad you have to crack a product you legally purchased.
