Improvements, some. But I don't see any "leaps and bounds" over the previous version. In addition, it would appear that unless your using a state-of-the-art PC with a state-of-the-art graphics card, a bazillion tons of state-of-the-art memory and CPU and a state-of-the-art monitor, you're either flying jerky style or with cartoon quality graphics! I've found that racing, probably because of its limited axses, is MUCH more realistic. I guess if you really want to feel like you're flying, take lessons!

It helps to have a powerful processor on your system to get the full effect with awesome graphics. I'm stuck with my laptop but I still love flying around.

- Fly the Laggy Skies
I've flown every version of Microsoft Flight Simulator since before it was the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 10 (MSX) is the latest version in this long line and it is, for the most part, very good.

The look and feel is top notch. The play of light, the textures, the whole visual package is unequaled. The flight dynamics are extremely good and matches most of my flight experience except for the stomach whoop-de-doos when the wind bounces you around.

On the downside, the menus are simply terrible. Its never a good thing when the user interface style changes from menu to menu. Its never a good thing to when you encounter several menu who's end effect is exactly the same, but function is completely different manners.

Microsoft has a well established style of menu that we have, for better or worse, has become second nature to all of us. So why they chose to not stick with this in favor of what feels very kloogy and mishmashed.

The program really falls apart when swapping between menu screens and modes. If it were just a tick slower and I would be considering boxing it back up and returning it. In this day and age there is no excuse for this much overhead swapping between modes.

My next problem with MSX is one I've been having with MS in general. To get the most out of MSX you will need a bleeding edge computer. HUGE memories, HUGE storage, HUGE video cards. The program tries to tailor itself to the machine it is being installed on, but my experience in installing it on my own machine and helping other install it is that the automatic tailoring is off, on the high side. Each case I needed to go in and tune down the graphics and such to get the program to run properly.

This program is really only for the die-hard SimAviator who is determined enough to fly the virtual skies to go through the hoops to make the program run properly.

- Don't bother with FS-X unless you have the POWER
Have been an FS fan and user for a decade and am very familiar with the software and it's evolution. IMHO Microsoft has blown this release and agree with other reviewers that it is a year or two too early. Calling the game a system hog would be an understatement. It was clearly designed for an OS and gaming hardware of the future. But FS has always pushed the hardware envelope - this time a little too far. Unless you own a monstrously powerful PC running dual video cards and quad processors, your not likely to see everything this game has to offer. I ran it on an HP XW8200 workstation with dual Xeon 3.6ghz processors, 4GB RAM, and an nVidea 3450 GFX card. With resolution set to 1600x1200, it slogged along at just a couple of frames per second. That is terrible performance on such a powerful workstation. On the positive side, at that resolution, the cockpit panels were amazing, and the spatial sound enhancements are fantastic. All the ground traffic adds realism, but I have to wonder how much that is bogging down the GFX processors. All in all, from a FS veteran - - stick with your old version for now.

this game sucks for real it never installs in my computer. my computer is only 2 weeks old. this games sucks for real don't buy it i returned it and boght a new game.this is a ripoff
