Price reflects quality. Poor sound quality, NO features, not that easy to use. Don't waste your money

- Great phone with modern design
I'm not really a techie but this phone came with great reviews of interference free calling, so I thought I'd try it out. The reception is very clear and the design is very modern and simple. I often lose the phone around the house now because of it's shape, but there is a button you can press to locate it. The polyphonic ringtones are nice and the answering machine is easy to use. It doesn't beep to let you know if there is a message but it blinks. I think it would have looked nicer to have a green digital display instead of an amber one but overall, a great phone!

- Philips gives poor customer support!
After we used and liked the phone for two weeks the handset developed severe static. When we contacted Philips' customer support they agreed it was a defective handset and gave us an address to which we could return the handset for repair or replacement. Our poatal service record of receipt indicates they received it on October 21, 2006. For more than two months we made numerous phone calls, spoke to many different persons, and were promised callbacks that never came. Finally a "supervisor" assured us that a handset was "in the mail." That was more than three weeks ago. We plan to keep trying to get some satisfaction, but meanwhile we have lost any shred of confidence we ever had in this manufacturer.

Pretty much all my complaints have to do with the handset, not the overall system.

The keys are slick and easy to make an incorrect keypad entry. The green and red keys for answering and hanging up the phone are difficult to hit correctly, so frequently you find that the phone keeps ringing after you thought you had already hit the button to accept the call.

The handset is small, and difficult to cradle to your ear if your hand gets tired. It's also got hard and relatively sharp corners, so it's uncomfortable. The menu system is hard to use, and I haven't bothered to try to learn how to program in numbers, how to see previous numbers that called, how to call back the last number dialed, etc....

The display is not dot-matrix, and hard to read. It's also really short on characters, which makes it hard to see long numbers and virtually impossible to read caller-id name information.

On the plus side, the sound quality is good, and the range of the handset is also very good -- much better than any other cordless phone I've seen here in the US.

We have voicemail, and do not make use of the telephone answering system, so I can't comment on that.

All of its faults aside, I'm still seriously considering buying multiple expansion handsets.

Philips can try a bit harder to made a decent product.
There is no ring on the base. Nor any speakerphone on the base unit.
The sound quality on the handset is good, but even the speakerphone on it is not so good.
They also use an unconventional system to go to speakerphone on handset so no-one can figure it out unless you read the manual. What happened to "User Friendly" design?
I salute them for being the first to use DECT technology on a phone in the USA. All the other companies are lagging behind in using this improved technology.
I just wish I could design my own phone. It seems all "high end" phones have some good qualities and some bad. Who designs these things?
