iWork'08: For 20+ years, we have used the usual high-end software for our newsletters and brochures. The new PAGES is taking over more and more of these jobs. I especially like the typographic controls, which allow me to get professional-looking page layout with almost no work.
The APPEARANCE of a spreadsheet is important for the ways I use spreadsheets, and NUMBERS makes beautiful results easy to achieve. It gives me almost everything I could ask for in a spreadsheet.
KEYNOYE was always far easier to learn and use than the competition, but with the addition of "action builds" and "instant alpha", it no longer has any competition.

This lovely intuitive group of programs has allowed me to effectively set up my home office. I can now run my household well and as a 24/7 caregiver, you can never underestimate this. iWork is easy to adapt to and easy to use with fantastic tutorials by Apple. All you really need to complete your basic IMac are iLife 08 and iWork 08. Highly recommended for Apple Users.

I've used Microsoft products for over a decade, and just recently switched to the mac. I couldn't be happier. iWork too has been a pleasant surprise. It took me literally hundreds of hours of frustration to learn the ins-and-outs of Microsoft Office, and I even took a couple classes in college that dealt with Office. Within two days of using iWork, I was creating the best looking documents I've ever made. iWork is intuitive and fun to use. AND THE ONLINE VIDEO TUTORIALS ARE AMAZING. Be sure to watch them. I love Apple, and am just angry that I didn't make the switch years ago.

I found that iWork 08 is far superior and more professional than M$ Office 2008.
The Office from Microsoft takes too long to load. Word takes about 3 times the load time of Apple Pages. Also, with iWork 08 you can still use your Office documents without any problem.
I'm in love with Pages, it's a sweet well designed application (same goes for Numbers and Keynotes, but I haven't used them a lot). Pages support document templates that are very easy to use and to create professional looking docs.
Overall, I'm very happy with this software. And for $79 for a 5 licenses family pack you can't go wrong!

A $79 office suite? Seriously? Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Clause.
Okay, I will admit that the main reason we purchased iWork is for the excellent presentation module, Keynote. Keynote smokes PowerPoint so bad, there really is no comparison. Keynote can make your presentation go from snoozeville to true eyecandy, keeping peoples attention even after a heavy lunch in a warm room. Think of iWork as $79 for Keynote, and Pages and Numbers just come along for free!
Pages is the document manager/word processor for the average user. Seriously, how many features have you ever used in Microsoft Word? How many advanced features do you use on a regular basis? I thought so. Pages is for you. When you want to make a good looking document in a snap, and not have to spend hours just trying to figure out how to do that, Pages works.
Numbers is Apples first native spreadsheet application. It does not work, or feel, like Excel. Since I am a heavy Excel user, I fumble around in this application, and soon head to my open office NeoOffice spreadsheet application. However, if you are new to spreadsheets and do not need a lot of macro support, give Numbers a try.
iWork is well worth the $79 price tag. I recommend it.
