Xbox 360 Controller

Domain Name Com's - : Xbox 360 Controller

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - More reliable than wireless
my 360 originally came with 2 wireless controllers. Both did not function correctly. One controller's left joystick was aligned wrong so it constantly sent a "left" signal to the xbox. The other controller could not connect to my 360. So i bought two wired controllers and everything works fine. Obviously you have to deal with the wires, but i think it is worth not having too change batteries and it being more reliable.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Xbox 360 Controller-A Good Buy
When the controller arrived it was in perfect condition and came with an easy to understand manual. You can either plug it into your 360 or you can use it as a PC gamepad, which is a pretty nifty feature that I'm sure PC gamers will be thankful for. Overall, its a good choice but I would suggest the wireless controller if you're willing to give another ten dollars.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Xbox 360 Gamepad on PC
I consider the Xbox 360 Gamepad to be one of the best Gamepads for the PC. Lately alot of companies have been ignoring the PC Gamepad/joystick market (Logitech!). Lame, but now it's okay. I've been very impress with the different Xbox 360 Gamepads I've tried/own. I have 1 MS brand, and about 3 Mad Catz brand (plus MC2 Steering Wheel!). Most games recongise all the buttons and axis on the gamepads. Usually the triggers (Z axis) are the ones that might not get recongised. When that happens, use a third Party Program that lets you assign keys to joystick buttons, there's quite a few programs like that, some are even freeware.
My biggist complaint is the lack of Vibration in games that support it. This seems to be a driver issue, so could MS get off their collective butts and fix it. (don't hold your breath).
There is 1 game that the vibration worked, and that was Auto Assault. A very fun MMO to try out, but not to pay monthly for. There was some trials keys floating around for it, on fileplanet or somewhere like that.
Anyways, if you need a gamepad for your pc, go with the Xbox 360 gamepad. Try Mad Catz gamepads, they have a smaller version that works very good (you can get it at gamestop, since they printed it on the gamepad). If the rumble feature (Vibration) is very important to you, until they fix it, you will be basiclly, out of luck.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Terrific controller
I am not an Xbox fanboy. True, I own an Xbox 360, but I don't hold one console over the others in terms of "omggottahave." However, I am quite fond of the new Xbox 360 controller. Its design was much better implemented than the original Xbox controller that was HUGE (then just big after the S type) and clunky. It felt like a block of heavy plastic. Button spacing was weird and it just felt clumsy. Now that the Xbox 360 controller is out, I have to say that it is my favorite of the 3D-based controllers out there. But this isn't a review about the actual hardware as much as it is for the uses for it.

In short, it works perfectly for the PC. I am not a huge PC gamer mostly because I have grown up on the console side. There are some games that I do really well with the PC (RPGs, MMOs, point and click adventure games, etc.) but there are some that I'm okay with (FPS) and some that I am terrible with (Platforming, third person perspective). On top of that, I could never find a gamepad made for the PC that I liked as much as the ones for the consoles. So, when the Xbox 360 controller came out that was compatible with the PC I thought the gaming gods were smiling upon me.

Getting it installed takes just a matter of minutes; mostly, your install time involves going to the xbox.com website, downloading the drivers for the controller and then just running that application. From there, the computer recognizes the controller and when you get into a game, you can easily calibrate the controls.

I have used three games with this. F.E.A.R., Tomb Raider: Legends, and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Dreamfall didn't recognize the trigger buttons. The bumpers, the face buttons, the analog controls and the direction pad work perfectly, but the triggers aren't recognized. F.E.A.R. was a bit tricky, mostly because there are so many buttons that need to be used that it makes using an controller problematic. Tomb Raider worked wonders and made me happy since I didn't want to shell out $60 for a game I could get for $40 on the PC.

Also, gamers should be pleased to note that Ventrilo recognizes the controller and you can use the press-to-talk function with the controller. It doesn't recognize the triggers, but any other button on the controller is fair game. Really helps when you're playing a game that Ventrilo helps you with.

Overall, it's a great controller. I will note that you can't use a wireless controller plugged in with the plug and play charger. You have to use the standard, wired controller. But for those looking for a good controller to use with the PC, I can't recommend the Xbox 360 controller enough.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - New feel to old games...
I'm a classic gamer and have tons of older games that were ported to the PC from systems like the 8-Bit Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Sega Genesis, etc...

Most of the classic games need to run through another piece of software to work. Most of these packages include the ability to configure a joystick for playing the games they run.

I heard that the 360 controller was also designed with PC gamers in mind. I decided to buy one with the hopes that it would work with my classic games.

I recieved it about 5 days ahead of estimated which was completely awesome. I downloaded the drivers from the microsoft website and made sure it was calibrated (using the windows other hardware control panel). Fired up my classic games and assigned the keyboard keys over to the controller buttons.

Sometimes its a bit tricky mapping the buttons, but once you get that figured out, you have a new revitalizing feel to your old classic games.

Highly recommended!
