- Intel-based Mac users beware
The printer may be great, but it won't work on Intel-based Macintoshes with the driver on the printer software CD provided in the box. If you do install the software, you will end up having to call Epson technical support (not a toll-free call, and you may have to wait) in order to un-install the software (the directions on the Epson website are not sufficient). To add insult to a lot of frustration, the Epson rep told me I would have to pay a $9 fee, as the printer, which I had just received from Amazon, was out of warranty, having been made in 2005 according to the serial number. He did, however, eventually waive the $9 and was helpful and patient. After about 15 minutes on the phone (at my expense), the printer did begin printing using the downloaded driver. Considering the cost of the printer, one would expect more from both Epson and Amazon.

Service from Amazon was excellent with free Super Saver Shipping. Printer produced magnificent prints right out of the box. Color prints are very true to life and accurate especially in the greens.Reds are rich and vibrant. Black and white prints were incredibly neutral prints with deep blacks and beautiful tones using the Photo Black Cartridge with Hahnemuehle Fine Art Pearl paper which simulates the look of traditional darkroom enlarging bromide paper.I have had the printer for three weeks now and so far no problems with banding or incorrect colors.I'm just printing from a simple free software program called Ultimate Paint. It works great for me right now by using a simple setup till I get more experienced with the advanced settings. Great printer, great price from Amazon. A printer to really appreciate especially when printing Black and White photos.

This printer was purchased to replace an Epson 1280 (our second) which had served us well for years. We were always happy with the prints from the 1280, but it was beginning to show some 'feed lines' and was extremely slow. The R2400 fixes all of that. The 13x19 prints that we make for our art business now take 5 minutes or less (over 30 minutes for the 1280) and the color reproduction is spectacular. The subtle blue/greens now look right and the prints look great. We've tried it on photos as well and it is just spectacular. If you are serious about large format printing, this is hard to beat.

In this day and age of the marketing machine, many products abound in the market place that promises much more than they deliver. I am aware of this marketing machine that hypes up products, and have been extremely cautious as a consumer. That being said, I am extremely happy with this printer.

Yes, it sucks up ink like a hog. And yes, if you want a good print you need to use the correct Epson paper. I tried using other photo paper and prints came out hideously. But when I used the recommended Epson papers, the results are phenomenal and well worth the price. Epson makes it's paper specifically for it's printers. What's the point of taking beautiful pictures just to have it stored on the computer or printed out low quality at one of those kiosks.

With this printer, I've been pulling gallery quality prints using Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper. The color range is phenomenal, and the prints ALWAYS look better than the images on the screen (I have an Apple 19' Studio display monitor). It's like magic every time I hit the print button.

I highly recommend this printer to people who would pay a little more for quality!

I've been using the Epson R2400 for about 6 weeks now. I am extremely impressed and very satisfied with the quality of output from this printer. My work has been both (mostly) color and B&W. Output has ranged from 4x6 to 13x19. Borderless & not over this range. I have been using Moab Entrada 190 Natural paper almost exclusively with the printer. I've been using Epson K3 inks.

No reliability issues experienced to-date. I've had to replace ink cartriges (pretty much a full set), but no other problems have arisen. No need to clean the print heads yet.

As a non-professional (enthusiast) who felt a need to print beyond letter sized, the cost of R2400 was a significant hurdle to overcome. Frankly, my first consideration was the Canon i9900. Key factors in deciding on the R2400 were: 1) suitability for both B&W & color; 2) visual quality and impact of output; 3) photo permanance; 4) Media flexibility; 5) Cost of ownership/use; 6) Maintenance

This was one of my most thoroughly researched purchases. After the fact, I am very satisfied in my decision.
