before i get started i have to admit im not the biggest fan of grand theft auto. but rather just a fan of vieolont action games. however i did appreciate vice city and gta 3 was ok. im definitely not the type of person who looks down on video game vieolonce as i enjoy it myself but san andreas is diffrent. no its not diffrent in that it has more vieolonce langauge etc. ive played manhunt and the suffering and i wasnt offended. its diffrent in the fact that its just not that good of a game. now please dont discount my reveiw as bigated or anything and ill try to adress my complaints so that you the reader can give contex to my reveiws and or opions. the major gripe i have with the title is the lack of gameplay troughout it. a lot of the game you are forced to backtrack. thats only if you fail the missions and beleive me the missions are so tough you will try them over and over many times until you finally pass them. each time you fail a mission you will be forced to drive back to the person who assigned you the mission and then drive to where the mission actaully took place. in a lot of cases you will drive aimlessely for 10 to 15 minutes doing multipart driving affairs only to fail again and have to go trough the same hassle. the missions range from easy and simple to complicated and are in some cases extremely hard to the point of being frustrating. sure the other gtas are hard vice city was tough and gta iii was outwardly insane. but adleast those missions took place in cities where if you died it wouldnt take that long to backtrack and get started again. san andreas is not one but three colossal cities and the countryside in between them. when you get in the countryside it really gets ridicolous sometimes youll have to drive trough the entire countryside which is HUGE and into another city to start a very tough puzzle mission if you happen to fail and theres a good chance because the game is so hard than you have to make two trips back to the mission instructor and then back to the miision bothtimes going trough huge amounts of land and taking FOREVOR in the process. in a special note there are also tons of little frustrating puzzles i constantly found myself saying why do i need to do this? suffice it to say if you enjoy pure action games DONT BUY THIS GAME! the autoaim system has thankfully been cleaned up since vice city but its still rather frisky. sometimes you will be aiming to a gang member in an incredibly intense shooting mission only to have your gun aim and track something much less important like a passing pedestrian. avcourse you then get shot relentleessely and die because youre being crazily outnumbered anyway. but suffice it to say when you do die it wont be as easy to get back to where you were as it was in vice city or gta 3. san andreas uses a lightly updated version of the graphical engining of vice city and as a result it looks roughly the same as its predecessor. its not that the game is outwordly ugly but it defginitely needed improvement it didnt get. however take in consideration the massive amount of veichles. pedestrians. landscape buildings and foliage that can be seen at one time and all is forgotten. on the plus side if you liked the do anything you want aspect of grand theft auto youll love the non story elements in the game that have nothing to do with beating the game but rather having some fun that the story mode lacked. any veichle can be jacked and any person relentlessely torn apart. youll have plenty of weapons like rifles. grenades. handguns. pistols including silencers. sniper rifles. rocketlaunchers. projectiles. shotguns. submachine guns. knives. daggers. baseball bats. flower pots. and more. if for anything that makes the game adleast worth a rental however its not nearly as satisfying as the pleasure you cant get from nearly ANY shooter. unfortunatly the posotive aspects of the game are buried under the fact that theres nearly as much backtracking here as there is gameplay maybe more. it should also be said if you work and have a family and want a qaulity gameplay expereince do not get san andreas. you will not be able to put up with the frustrations it provides you. only get it if you have hours and hours to try the missions ovcer and over and over agin and backtrack every second youre not playing them. the graphics and sound are also left untouched meaning theres no deeper of an experinced to be found here than in vice city. in fact if you compared san andreas and vice city vice would come out in eveery category except size of the gameworld. and even though im more of a fan of shooters such as halo goldeneye and half life i admit vice city was a fun game. even if you disagree with me please dont say i wasnt helpful. i did my best to provide a clear and informative reveiw and simply dont want anybody to throw 50 bucks down on something that will give them more frustration than pleasure. unless you are a die hard fan of gta or simply have so much time that you dont know how to use san andreas is nothing more than a rental option.

San andreas is a true epic in every sense of the word. its one of those exceptionialy rare games that eats up hours of my time without me even realizing where the time went. its one of those special games that you say ill just play it for 2 more minutes and then that becomes 3 hours. a couple things that make this game stand out from the rest of the grand theft autos is both the sheer magnitude of the overall world and the refined mission structure. sure san andreas is great in other ways but its those two things that really put it over the top. san andreas is BIG. it is comprised of 3 cities and the countryside in between them. you have a clone of la san fransisco and las vegas. the countryside is also huge and breathes with epic life. the graphics are extremely good considering all the detail on screen going on at any given time. the bland flat look of vice city is gone and the graphics have jumped up considerably higher on the scale. los angeles portion of the game comprizes of realistic roads and ritzy sundried ghettos. san fransisco is hiloly and somewhat bland looking but very realistic. las vegas presentation impressed me with extremely accurate lighting effects a strip full of casinos and red hot desert furnaces. but the most impressive part of the package is the stunning countryside which looks just lovely. photorealistic foliage wonderfully textured moautins and dazzling lighting effects make these areas look better than everything else and thats saying a lot. all the trademark details return veichles. people and other things are extremely life like and a joy to watch the game also runs at a very impressive 60 fps. the refined mission structure is easily the games greatest merit. the missions are very exciting this time around and pack in all the thrills of a grade a action movie. one pacticularly exciting mission had me traverse a warehouse. take out a specific gang member which notified police about me. then the police chased me the cops cars along with cop choppers pirsuited and i had to take them all out with an ak 47 i fell into a billboard dived several hundred feet down in a blazing wreck and blew up several veichles including a gasoline truck in the process. missions are very good and often multipart youll perform burglaries. casino heists. save people from fires. steal military hardware. choose and pick gangmembers. perform drive by shootings and so on and so on. the average mission here generally feels a lot more exciting epic and multipart than in vice city and there are few missions that will have you wondering why the hell they need to be completed unlike vice city. on the downside the difficulty has definitely been upped since vice city and some of the miisions are severly difficult although if you keep trying diffrent tactics youll be able to beat the levels a good vareity of weapons also helps. some of the difficulty does feel rather artificial but this is still by all means a tough game. speaking of weapons theres a good vareity here including rifles. pistols. submachine guns. shotguns. sniper rifles. ak 47s. rocketlaunchers. molotov cocktails. body armor. grenades. nightsticks. chainsaws. shovels. knifes. silencer guns. daggers. hammers. chains and more. the veichle physics are much better youll still be able to do tricks with them and gain skill points the more points you have the better it controls. the motorcycles are a lot cooler this time around and theres once again a huge vareity of veichles on the road and in the water. including suvs. vans. sports cars. ambulances. motorcycles. racing rigs. ice cream trucks. buses. tanks. helicopters. boats. police cars. firetrucks. pick up tricks and for the first time ever airplanes. one of the most intresting features of the game is the wide assortment of customization involved with the characther including eating and lifting to stay in shape or just eating and getting out of shape. also the game allows you to buy clothes as well as date girls. i could go on and on about this game the realism. the physics. the control. the storyline spoliers. the weapons. the veichles. the characthers. the sheer sise of the game but to tell you everything about this title would be to write a book. ive never played a game that made me as happy as san andreas nor have i ever enjoyed or been in awe of a game like i was about this one. even if youve never been taken by a big budget title before san andreas is sure to live up to the hype for you. its a gem a classic a perfect 10 everything you can think of. it is the best richest grand theft auto ever made. the best playstation 2 game to date and one of the most engrossing and enjoyable games ever released. it will take up hours and hours to even the most casual of gamers and i cant think of a reason why it wouldnt. all the elements of this game. the sise scope. detail. characthers. story. weapons. sitiautions. cinematic qaulity action and great voice acting make it one of the most styilish enjoyable and overly epic games ever released. if you own a ps2 you owe it to yourself to buy san andreas. if you dont own a ps2 return whatever you got for chrhismas and buy this game its simply that damm good.

I sincerly hope youve come here before you decide to purchase grand theft auto san andreas. i couldnt beleive just how overated this game was when i played it. in every way shape and form vice city and 3 are much much better eions better. the graphics are terrible poorly done choppy animations. framerate stutter lots of pop in and a very small amount of detail for buildings and houses. this is probally the most average looking mass marketed game ever created and it just goes to show that graphics dont make a game. but what does make a game? perhaps playabllity something san andreas dosent have at all. [...]. youll encounter several shooting missions early on and youll cotuinue doing them over and over again until youve hovered out of los santos which is the games first city. wheres the vareity of gameplay that made vice city such a hit? these missions are also VERY VERY tedious. youll usually fight several gangmembers some armed with pistols some armed with submachine guns all are very tough and youll usually go against TONS OF THEM. what makes this situiation worse is the games buggy auto aim. the aiming ability was supposed to be one of san andreas most dramatic jumps ahead of its predecessor but after using this control scheme its safe to say they should have left vice citys control scheme on. this garbage leads to countless deathd dieing because of the inadeqaucies of the auto aim and also the fact that sluggish cj is a LOT slower than vercetti who was a much tougher and more trustworthy allie. when you died in vice city youd be respawned at a nearby hospital and would usually drive a small but reasonably noticeable way back to your mission point. however since san andreas is so huge when you die on a mission here youll drive all the way back to the mission point respawn there and also drive up to the characther that asigned you the mission which takes forever. be prepared to scream with frustration as you die cheap deaths because of control inadaquicies then have to plow enormus acres of land to even start the miision up. i remember beating a mission in which you had to traverse a mansion and use stealth to get away from a bunch of cops then shot them at the end and left the area undetected. it took me about an hour or two to finally complete the mission and when i did i went and hoped a little victory dance and5 DIED AFTER jumping about 3 feet. MY MISSION FAILED!!! several minigames will annoyu the hell out of you pressing buttons at just the perfect time and if theyre not youll fail again and drive around the massive hub for hours. and somebody please tell me what the hell is this soundtrack? are you joking? this is awful! except for 2 pac and rage against the machine they really pit a crappy selection of music into this game. they put country ragee techno and some very very bland alternative rock nobodys like creed. L7 and powerman 5000. plus some very dull talk radio stations. vice city adleast had a metal station with heavy artists such as slayer. the graphics in vice city were stylish sparkling and showed an excellent emphasis on details. while san andreas does have a lit of details it presents them terribly and the graphics are just the damp on what is already an extremely disapointing and frustrating game. i was not satisfied at all with san andreas about all that was good about it was the voice acting it starts out very fun but goes downhill from there. if youre new to the gta series try out vice city. if youve played gta 3 and vice city before rent this game to see if you can handle and or put up with the horrendus difficulty frustrating control and lackluster graphics and music.
