- A great game.
I enjoyed Bloodlines a lot, which brought me into the whole world of White Wolf and the World of Darkness. It has a perfect atmosphere, and I cannot stress how much I love the game music. Simple entertaining things like actually listening to the Deb of Night radio spots make the game fun, even if it isn't noticeable.

Game play is good, I enjoy the hack and slash aspect of the fighting. I enjoy the role playing aspect of the game, and I feel like every mission I do is important in one way or another. I'm currently on my second time replaying this game, and I'm sure I'll do it another doze times to try other options. I've even come across several quests that I missed out on my first way through the game.

The only thing I wish were different about this game: I wish we were able to physically customize how our characters look. Other than that and a few minor bugs that happen every now and then (which of most you can find a simple cheat to overcome) this game is tops in my opinion. I wish there were a sequel to it.

- Flawed Masterpiece
I picked this game up at a reissued bargain price of $20 AUD and it's well worth the money.

I first had some technical problems with this game and had to return the discs for new ones. Second time round there was no problem and having read up on technical issues that this game is reputed for, I had already downloaded the official patch.

So having jumped through a couple of hoops to even get to play the game, I really wanted to find out what it was like.

There is both good and bad here.

The good:

Playing the role of a vampire with the ability to feed on the living, seduce, intimidate, persuade. Just being able to play this role is a kick in itself.

Good graphics, great atmosphere with soundtracks from industrial bands. There are some brilliant touches and details that make this an enjoyable gaming experience and quite an absorbing one.

The not so good:

There are waiting times to load between different locations on the same map. This was fine a few years ago, but as another reviewer has observed, this is the era of open free-roaming game maps with few loading screens, as with GTA series.
This game reminds me alot of Deus Ex, which I greatly enjoyed, but which is now quite old. Similarly Vampire Bloodlines seems to be a little dated in having so many loading screens.

While the graphics are great, they are a little limited in the number of character skins and NPC skins, too.

The quests, missions, etc, are a bit too linear and although you can wander and explore you are restricted in what you can do until you complete certain quests.

Technical issues - once I had swapped my first discs with the original retailer, there was no problem, although I still had to adjust the display resolution to actually play the game.
That's okay, but I'd definitely check your PC's technical specs against the system reqs before buying. It runs fine on mine.

Overall, I'd recommend this to any adult gamer who just fancies the fun experience of being a vampire.

Shame that a sequel to this game looks unlikely because there is plenty more potential here.

- LA Lurid
In addition to all the excitement etc., this is a wonderful panorama of LA's famous high spots at their most lurid and then some. "The Big Sleep", "The Black Dahlia", with vampires.

- Great, but glitchy
The gameplay was great. I even played through it several times in a row on my first playthrough. The game itself is glitchy though. Your best bet is to save before moving between areas though, as it occasionally crashed during the loading screen. If you run the patches, many things are fixed, but a few new bugs crop up in the player made patches (the original company is gone, so that's the best that you can get), but if you've got the harddrive space, keep a downgraded copy around and just move save files around when you find that you're stuck on game breaking glitches (the fish demon contact comes to mind).

- Good times
I think one of this game's strongest points is the fact that it can be replayed a few times, and in different ways. I started as a Nosferatu, and as such couldn't talk to anyone. Very different experience than my Tremeere who persuaded people to do all sorts of stuff and blasted people with blood. Who was still very different from playing as a crazy Malkavian who made other people totally insane.
The only problems I experienced (after the game was patched with he 2.3 patch and all) were in diffuculty with figuring out quests, but that's prolly just my idiocy. I highly recommend this game!
