- Wonderfully balanced, recommended for everyone
I wasn't really into strategy games until my brother got me this game. It is a really balanced game with lots of different units. And, the single-player has a great story with lots of depth. I don't do multi-player, but even so it's a really great game. The only drawback to the game is that as computer technology advances the more you wish it had more of a 3D component to it. But even so, you won't find a more balanced strategy game... ever. For more detailed information you might want to go to the publisher's website. It has a really great online strategy guide.

- THE BEST GAME OF THE CENTURY
I'm 13 I played this game one time and was hooked on to it. I played while I was visiting my grandmother and ever since then I've been hooked I played this game maybe last month and I haven't forgot it yet. every time somebody asks have you played any games it's the first game I reccomend. So buy this and enjoy it.

I personal find Starcraft to be one of the best games of all time. From the nomadic Terrans,to the honourable Protoss, to the savage Zerg. Starcraft is one of the best games I've ever played in my life! At first I dominated with the Terrans, cloaked ghost+ nukes= fun, fun fun! But now I can't decide which I prefer, 32 dragoons (fully upgraded), or 32 mutalisk (also fully upgraded). But now I just go from one to the other. In conclusion, I find that Starcraft(non and Broodwar) are exellent pass times and is a gift from Blizzard to cheris for a lifetime.

- One of the best Real-Time Strategy games
I'm generally not into Real-Time Strategy games, but I really enjoyed this one. It has a compelling story line, which is unusual in this style of game, and the single-player game has a shallow enough learning curve for even a first-time RTS player, but it doesn't ramp up the complexity so slowly that it's boring. The three races are fairly well balanced, yet significantly different in their strategies.

I definitely recommend buying the Starcraft: Brood Wars expansion with this, or just buying the Starcraft Battle Chest set that includes both, because Brood Wars adds so much to the Starcraft game. It continues the story, adds some interesting new units to each side, and re-balances the old units.

With the included editor, you can make your own maps or even whole campaigns. One of the reasons this game is still popular after so many years is that so many people have done just that, and made their contributions available for download. More importantly, online-multiplayer support keeps this old game alive by providing an endless supply of new opponents with an endless variety of strategies. The graphics, of course, are getting progressively more outdated, but in this kind of game, that really isn't a big deal.

- Great Game With Easy Online Play I Hope This Review Helps
I bought this game about a year ago and I am still playing it regularly. I am 12 years old and think that it is a good game for people from ages 10-60. You can choose from three diferent races (terran,zerg,protoss) each with their own strengths and weaknesses. There are enough games to keep you going for a year. Then if you like the game enough you can buy the expansion called Starcraft:Broodwar which gives you a whole new set of levels along with 2 or 3 new units for each race. The new units are fun because just after you think you have mastered the original version here come in these new units which tweak the game just enough so that you need to come up with new strategies and plans. Starcraft also has an online feature. You can play with a LAN,modem,IPX....... and then there is a built in service called battle.net which allows you to go online with other people around the globe and play with them. You can play normal games against computers or against other human players. But my favorite part about starcraft is that there are used map settings games on b.net. Used map settings games are games that people have made using the starcraft campaign editor and these levels contain a lot of programing and a lot of hard work. Some of these maps include the battle of helms deep, or the battle of minas tirith, or dragon ball Z, or the invasion of normandy. There are over thousands of used map settings (UMS) games and some are fun and some arn't but its a blast! Then there is the level editor which allows you to create your own levels with programming or triggers from scratch and then play them on b.net. I play with my friends and we have the 6 of us killing computers and defending helms deep. I would recomend this game to people who like games like Age Of Empires or Civlization or games with large amounts of battlefield strategy.
