Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good sound Wires could be a pain!!
These headphones cancel out noise very well Excellent price. Only downnside is tangled wires make it a bit unruly to use at times!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Great Buy!
I take public transit (bus and light rail) daily and enjoy listening to music during my commute. However, my Sennheiser PX-100 could not compete with the engine noises unless I turned up the volume to decibels that would guarantee deafness at an early age. Therefore I started to look for a pair of noise canceling headphones. I love the sound quality of my Sennheiser PX-100, so I decided to stick with Sennheiser. The Sennheiser PXC-250 do not disappoint even when I am stuck in the back of the bus near the engines. They sound great and I am able to hear the detail of the music at low volumes. I frequently forget to turn of the noise canceling device, but the batteries still last a very long time.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Use a lot
My wife and I both have this product and use it a lot. Aside from the obvious - planes, trains, buses, etc. - we also use the noise canceling features when we vacuum, mow the lawn, trim bushes, etc. Very hand to listen to music, podcasts, or books on tape while doing other things. And now we can still listen while doing things that are normally too noisy to hear well.
You have to get used to the wires - that's the only drawback. But it's doable. Run them under your shirt is the easiest. They are light weight and comfortable - can wear many hours without the ear cramp feeling. They are compact for traveling, and the batteries last a long time. When they get low, the red LED on the battery pack blinks. But the nice thing is that the head phones still work even if the the batteries go out completely - a feature some other head phones lack. My wife and I have had ours for a couple of years now and take them everywhere - use them a lot - and no problems. And if we had to replace them, I could buy three sets of these for the price of some others.
We just purchased sets for our sons. I'm sure they'll like them.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Yes, but .....
Probably the message can be confusing. What is 70% noise reduction? Which 30% remain? Noise reduction works well with lower, deeper frequencies. If there is no lower frequencies the effect is difficult to detect. But the technical means to reduce noise seem to be multiple. Inversion of sound signals is one, selective amplification - it seems - another, and as an add-on you get some white noise. If you use it for listening to music the impression of noise reduction is strong. It certainly may be 70% or even more. But if you just use the phones without an mp3 player or another source of sound - it rather feels like 30%-40%. Therefore not 5 but only 4 stars.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good for plane travel, but be aware of fit
I bought these to replace my Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headset on long flights. The Bose set is superb but bulky. Sennheiser's noise reduction is not quite as good, and the sound reproduction was OK for podcasts
and airplane movies & music, but the bass is not strong enough for serious music listening. Thus, four stars, not five. The headphones are not quite so isolating as the Bose headphones -- they shut out background engine noise but you can still somewhat muffled voices around you. The design is quite good for travel - the headset folds up neatly and goes into a soft nylon pouch. You have to be reasonably gentle and read the instructions for folding it just once. In the wires leading from the headset to the plug, there's a four inch long plastic pod for the circuitry and the batteries. It didn't get in the way, and there's a clip on it so you can stick in in a pocket or clip it to clothing.

But: the headset is spring loaded to keep the earpieces firmly on your ear and therby give you good noise cancelling. When I wore the headset, I got a headache from the pressure after maybe two hours of the four hour flight. The Bose set is more comfortable for long hours of use despite the size, although even they bother me a bit after four or five hours. You may not experience the same problem, but be sure to keep all the packaging just in case, so you can return them if they hurt. If the pressure doesn't bother you, this will be a good headset -- good but not superb -- for a very reasonable price.
