This game is good, and I won't mention more about this aspect since the other reviews already do. I have been able to play it on a computer with windows vista. There were a few problems in the beginning, but I have since found ways to deal with them. The main problem is when the game won't let me play and claims that I have software installed for playing an illegal version of the game when I really don't. The way that works for me is to restart the computer and run the update for the game before trying to start playing. Another problem was that sometimes my saved games would disappear. This didn't occur unless I was interrupted during the game by some other program that popped up (instant messaging, etc.). Once the other program popped up, the games I saved afterwards would disappear after I quit the game. The only way to prevent this is to save often and to restart your computer after the pop up occurs (or just turn the other programs off).

Knights of the Old Republic is an amazing game in everyway. Its a fun RPG but its a lame turn based one. The storyline is great and has lots of replay value. Any star wars fan must have this game.

KOTOR is set in the distant past of the Star Wars Universe. The plot is semi-linear, letting you choose from a variety of tactics to resolve any challenge put before you. There's plenty of side quests available that aren't required, but they're usually a good idea, and they often provide extra snippets of plot along with them.

As your character completes more and more quests, depending on how you choose to solve them, you lean towards the light or the dark side of the Force. This changes both your appearance and your access to various abilities.

The graphics are slightly dated, but still pretty darn good, and the plot and RPG elements are excellent.

I bought this game at the recommendation of a friend, and after some issues with my computer (XP, Celeron processor), I got it working and WOW. The graphics are great (though I have to operate it on medium instead of high), the movies and styling is fantastic. The storyline is intricate and captivating - I love that you can play the main character as light or dark, man or woman. Lots of variation - it never gets old. Even the same Star Wars font is used for the dialogue options.

There is a second title in this series by a different developer that's just as fascinating (though the ending's terrible!), but this one is the first, the real deal. The only reason it's not 5 stars all the way is because of my startup difficulties. Still - buy it, please. You will not be disappointed.

this game is so good, it makes the original star wars films look bad.

I loved the movies as a kid, but honestly, this game is fun and has an incredibly good story that blows the films away.

kotor is without a doubt one of the best games of all time.

I sincerely implore you to buy and play this game before you can no longer find it on store shelves, regardless of whether you are a fan of the movies or not.
