- Baby LOVES this mobile!
My grandmother got this for my second baby, and we started using it when she was around 1-1/2 months old. At first she would just stare at it intently, and now she has progressed, at almost 3 months old, to smiling, laughing, and "talking" to her farm animal friends. (And she fusses when the music stops!) I actually have this mobile attached to a crate in the living room, and then I'll put it back on the crib when she moves upstairs from her bassinet....maybe. I like watching her with it downstairs!

The bright, contrasting colors are great for baby's vision development, as we have all heard over the past several years. I was also impressed with the little shapes that slide on the bars as the mobile goes around - the movement and sound of them sliding and clacking catches her interest too. The tilted angle is perfect too, particularly when baby is very young, and tends to look to one side instead of straight up.

I can only imagine that Baby will love this toy more and more as she gets older, and is able to grab and bat at it. I know this item is kind of expensive, but I would spend the money on it. The mobiles that "match" whatever decor you pick out are usually not very stimulating. And, in my experience with my first child, aren't used for very long. With this one, I can see us using it for quite a while - maybe even attaching it to a stairway gate in the living room so she can crawl to it....

The only advice I would have, if you are going to register for or purchase this item, is to look for the one that has a remote.

My son was only 6 weeks old when I first put him in his crib and turned on this mobile. I was so surprised when I came back in to check on him, he was staring intently at the toy. He is now 11 weeks old and he coos and babbles at it. He does not do that with any other toy or his play gym. At first I was going to buy one of those cutesy mobiles that matched his bedding, like I did for my older two children. I am so glad I bought this b/c my older two NEVER paid attention to theirs.

My 3-month old absolutely loves this mobile. Even though the animals a little strange looking to the adults, my baby smiles and coos as he watches the movement. We have found that he has started to watch the mobile when he is not in his crib. My husband and I have started to call the animals his little friends.

This is not a mobile to soothe however. Although he has fallen asleep once or twice while watching it, he usually starts "talking and dancing" when the music and movement starts.

- Great Mobile But it SQUEAKS!!!
This is a great mobile for your child, my son has loved it since day 1 and still loves it at 8 months old. But I have returned 2 of them because the motor squeaks and even my sister-in-law in South Africa has it and hers squeaks too! So make sure you try it out first, makes a terrible sound! Would highly recommend but make sure you keep the receipt!

I too bought the "nursery themed" mobile for $40, and I wouldnt have minded the price if it were half interesting or if it worked!

My three month old has had this for about a week and LOVES it. Theres a frog, a monkey, and a bird, (I've been seeing him concentrating on the monkey though). The colors are bright and vibrant (a big WOW in the nursery) but it works! IT will play for a good 10-15 minutes, so obviously its not a wind-up. It can play a variety of music (not just Brahms Lulabye!) and it really is entertaining/soothing.

There really isn't much to say about it other than its wonderful! Now why cant they make mothers happy, a matching mobile that works just like this one!!
