Domain Name Com's - : Diablo 2

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Oh my... so many complaints... should I buy?
I have gathered from the reviews, lots of people love it; lots of people hate it. I am not much of a gamer, but this is the best game I have ever played, period. The gameplay, the fun, the challenge...what more should a game have? A few words on the complainers...

I am sure someone has mentioned that the game auto-saves. Some people who wrote reviews are not aware of that. You do not have to worry about losing your progress, although some people have indicated otherwise. The character may lose some things in the event of a computer crash, but the game AUTO-SAVES (rather frequently I have found)! Don't worry about losing your progress. I have found rare items and placed in the character's inventory, only to have the game crash minutes or seconds later. Then, to my surprise, after running the game again and loading the character, the item is in the inventory. Try it yourself if you don't believe me. Another inaccurate point mentioned repeatedly is the issue about clicking repetitively. Well, this game is, as many call, a "clickfest". I suggest those people hold the mouse button down when attacking a creature instead of rapidly clicking the mouse. Holding the mouse button down continues attacking the creature that was clicked on initially until it dies.

All programs have their shares of problems. You just have to live with some. I can't spend all day writing this review to correct the inaccuracies of several reviews on the Amazon site. You have your own taste in games, so just decide for yourself. And when you get burnt out from this game, ask yourself... is this the first game I have played that I got tired of? That's life; try new things! Some say it is addictive and evil? Well, it is a game. Someone even mentioned the GAME created problems for them because they stayed up to late. OK, and WHOSE fault is that?

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Although many games were sprouted by the Diablo series, this is a wasted product.
Who knew that a wasted product would sprout better RPGs. Anyway, pretty much in the sequel you got to fight a hero-went-bad who became Diablo (in the first installment the hero becomes Diablo). Pretty much, the plot is weak and worst of all is the fact that the monsters don't give much of a challenge (that is me obviously).

Despite that fact that I had some fun with D2, this game is flawed.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best game ever. Period.
Diablo 2 was the first game i ever woke up in the wee hours of the morning to play it has one of the best game soundtracks beutiful cutscenes even for owday and it is GREAT!!! It also has online play just in case you were wondering (Best game ever made it beeter with the expansion pack:Lord of Destruction)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Extremely Addictive Game
OK, so I'm about 3 or 4 years late in jumping on the bandwagon for Diablo 2 :). I remember the release of this game a number of years ago, but I never got around to playing it. So I was looking for something inexpensive to tide me over until Elder Scrolls IV comes out, and selected this game. Boy am I happy I did.

I expected to play this to its conclusion, then move on to something else. Little did I expect that I would actually purchase the expansion, and play through the game 3 times in single user mode (normal mode, nightmare, then hell), then move on to the online play in [...] (free service; no monthly fee!).

The game has a lot more combat than the typical RPG's I play. Normally this would put me off, but I find the combat in this involving and fun. They have done an excellent job of making the game challenging for both the beginner and the expert. They have a ton of items you run across ranging from simple non-magical items, to magical items, to rares, and once in a long while, the unique. They also have the concept of a "set" item, where if you possess more than 1 item in a set (say boots, and gloves), the items will become more powerful. Very cool.

There are so many pros regarding the game that I probably couldn't list them all. However, there's a couple of things that I would list as a con:

* You can only save at designated places. This can be fairly inconvenient, especially when playing late at night (and needing sleep :). I found myself leaving the computer on so I didn't have to do a large portion of an area the next day.

* There's a very rare bug where a character gets "stuck", and can't move. I found that gating out and coming back sometimes works to get out of this mode.

* I wish there were a way to command the NPC's which you can team with. Many of these over-anxious teammates have dragged me into battles I really didn't want.

* You will come across many runes in the game, which can be used to make uber weapons/armor. However, I found no clues in the game as to how to make these items. You can look at web pages for these recipes. In general, I found no clues in game for horadric cube recipes. Perhaps this is intended, but it feels like an oversight to me.

Don't let these minor anoyances steer you away from the game. It is very involving, and extremely fun to play. Plus since the game is a bit older, it should probably run on most PC's (check the requirements first of course).

One word of advice: fork out the extra 10 bucks and buy the battle chest edition. Not only does this give you an extra act (act V), you will also have a larger bank (to save loot), and come across more interesting items. Plus you can actually equip your NPC partner, which helps a bunch.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Possibly the best game ever
I never thought I could ever love a game more than I loved Final Fantasy III for the SNES system, and up until about three years ago, it was still my favorite game. Then I broke down and bought Diablo 2. Well here we are three years later, and I still play the game for at least an hour every day, most of the time a lot more. I go through stages of not playing it for a few months, but then I get the urge to go through it yet again. It keeps me interested because though the plot never changes, the outcome can be totally different every single time you play. The skill trees are huge, the variety of weapons, special weapons, rare items, magical items, etc... is almost unlimited. In addition to this, experimenting with the Horadric cube is also a really cool feature. Going through the game with all the different characters will take you quite awhile, and every time you do, you'll end up with a whole different set of items and weapons. The difficulty of the game greatly increases at the higher levels, and in the "Hell" setting, you must beat the entire game without dying once (I haven't yet done this). There's always more to see and do, and you'll always be excited to see what new stuff you can find. This game is very simple to understand and does not take a long time to get the hang of. You can basically play the entire game using the three buttons on the mouse plus a few hot keys on the keyboard. I'm usually more a fan of actual RPG's, but for a dungeon crawler, this game is perfect. For the ultimate experience, get the expansion addition, it makes the game 100 times better. Very highly recommended for fans of Baldur's Gate. This game is extremely addictive, and because of the millions of different outcomes the game offers, you'll be coming back for more long afer you beat the game.
