Bought this book to take some of the stress out of cooking for company coming from out of town. Using this book helps you to enjoy your friends and relatives instead of being in the kitchen and being too busy to visit! Also, it explains the proper method of freezing various kinds of meals.

I started with Cook for a day books and this is far better. I like the layout--to be able to easy multiply the recipe. I LOVE the bonus recipes online--free for anyone that buys the book!! As far as the recipes are concerned the crustless quiche is better than any quiche recipe I have had.

I bought this together with Frozen Assets and I like 30 Day Gourmet far better. 30 Day Gourmet is very well organized, it even answered my questions in the order I had them. All of the information I found to be very useful without the repitition I found in Frozen Assest. The worksheets provided were a little overwhelming to me, but I know once I get the hang of using them, it will make shopping, cooking, and freezing 30+ days worth of cooking much more efficent. The recipes are pretty basic (mashed potatoes, oven fried chicken, casseroles, soups, sandwhiched, etc...). Nutritional Information for both regular and lighter versions are included which makes it easier to watch your intake (the only reason why I did not give this book 5 stars is because my style of cooking is more along the lines of Cooking Light. Though the recipes in this book all look good, they seem a little too heavy for my taste).

I am using the information in The 30 Day Gourmet to prepare and freeze some of my family favorites. This book is well worth the money and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interetsed in organizing their kitchen and cooking less. I have bought a number of once-a-month-cooking books in search of the once with the most bagn for my buck. I could have save myself some money had I just bought this one. Enjoy!

- The best book on freezer cooking I have found
I have purchased serveral books on the subject of freezer cooking and I have been disappointed until I recieved this book. I was judging the book by it's cover and didn't think it would be worth buying but I went ahead and gave it a try. I was truely surprised!! It is written very well and has great recipes and super tips on how to begin. I feel this book would be excellent for a beginner or a great compliment to a already stocked library.

I am rating this book 4 stars because I believe there are many people who will get a lot of value from this book. Although, unfortunately, I am not one of them.

The positive reviews of this book are warranted. However, if you are an advanced cook, with a sophisticated palate you won't like this book, you may even hate it.

Most recipes contain onion powder and cream soups, and are simply vile in my opinion. One reviewer made a good point "this cookbook uses real ingredients and I am tired of cookbooks that call for fancy things like: goat cheese". If you can relate to that - you will enjoy these recipes, if you like Rachel Ray you will enjoy this book. If you despise Rachel Ray and prefer real chefs, like Mario Batali - don't buy this book.

This book isn't so much a cookbook full of recipes, but actually worksheets, planning guides and homespun advice. I am still confused why the author felt it necessary to mention that preparation for freezing cooking should include the cook making sure they took a shower or bath that day. Also, I could have done without pages of word tables annoylingly formatted with the comic sans font. But, that is just me. And if you are innately organized and anal retentive, like myself - this book will be useless.

But, I admit I am a food snob, and I would be doing this book an injustice by allowing that snobbism to infilitrate my review. There are many people who will like this book and need this kind of book for their busy lives. However, I am not one of them.
