Gerald has built a new zoo and wants your helpcollecting some unique, marvelous and strange animals from around the world, for his new zoo.

You board the McGrew Zoo Choo Choo Train that takes you to 8 different possible destinations where you find such fine finds as a Barbaloot, thesong writing Zinn-a-Zu bird, and Star-bellied Sneetches, to mention a few.

You are presented with a wide range of activities in each area which when successfully completed, will allow you to collect one of these fine creatures.

When you goto the Lorax's Forest, you help some Babaloots by putting the correct number of furballs in their wheelbarrows. When you have the right number in the first two wheelbarrows, you then pick the right number to answer the addition question. (see middleright). And for your efforts you get to collect some fine Barballots for the zoo.

At the Shapes-On Machine (see bottom right) you are called upon to help Sylvester McMonkey McBean complete a pattern involving shapes and colours to create aproper sequence. For your efforts, you can take to your zoo some excellent Star Bellied Sneeches. (This is a lot more fun than collecting stars). Of course, when you have collected all the animals, you are rewarded with seeing the grand opening ofyoung Gerald Mcgrew's new zoo.

 The program has lots of hidden clickables and a variety of play activities such as the Musical Band where you can click on individual band members to hear a tune or play with the Clock Sculpture to learnabout time.

    This software was published in 1998, written for Windows 3.1. The setup has been slightly modified to install on Windows 95. It forces installation of an old version of QuickTime for Windows 3.1, and will only run at a screen resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. My 15" laptop LCD screen is 1024 x 768 pixels, so this runs only on a 9" diagonal section of the screen.     after downloading this software onto the computer and pressing start, nothing was legible as the icons were HUGE (much bigger than normal for a childs game) and the color was in a "negative" look. Perhaps it's just this one disc that was somehow ruined, big bummer.

    The educational benefits have been pointed out by others, I just wanted to put people's mind at ease that this title WILL work on XP.
    You may need to use the Program Compatibility Wizard or you may need to get offline and close your anti-virus, anti-spyware, pop-up blockers and other assorted rubbish that starts up with your PC as they cause software conflicts, stopping some software from being able to be installed.

    wonderful software game. My child has played longer on this game than on any other including jumpstart. there are games in almost every category of verbal and math that are very delightful.For every category that your child completes they get to bring a new animal for their zoo which is very rewarding to them. I have an older computer and I have no problem with the software.

    Like everyone else, I bought this for my XP machine. I've spent probably 2 hours trying to install, but to no avail. I am really upset that Amazon would allow vendors to sell this garbage. It sounds like The Learning Company is a sham and won't offer support or a refund.
