I am a VERY basic web designer. I've modified my web site, designed by a professional 10 years ago. I decided I could now redesign my site with the modern tools available today, and I chose Expression Web because I had heard FrontPage was fairly simple. Expression Web does just that, and the price was just right. It has several nice templates you can use to create your modern "standards-based" site. There really isn't much new and I probaly should nave waited for ver. 3, but then I mostly always upgrade.

Has some great features but as far as simplicity compared to Frontpage it is challenging to say the least. Still trying to find navigational view and help is no help.

I have been struggling with the original version of Expression Web for over a year. It randomly stops working. It often refuses to save files. It often refuses to rename files.

I had hoped that perhaps Expression Web 2 would have some of these bugs fixed. I downloaded a free trial version from the Microsoft web site. A brief editing session has revealed that most or all of the bugs remain.

Once the program is up and running, it's fine. Unfortunately, each time the program is opened, it tries to run through a time-consuming configuration routine. That didn't happen with the beta release (which I removed before installing the final release version, per instructions) and it shouldn't be happening now.
