Having bought a ViewSonic VA1912WB 19-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor (Black) some time ago for my new Dell XPS series, I didn't think a 19in monitor could surpass the display quality of that monitor, but I purchased this VX1940w 19in and was absolutely stunned. INCREDIBLY bright screen that is so bright, I even have to turn down the brightness considerably, especially at night, because it's almost overwhelming.

My cat shadow misses my old viewsonic though. There will be generations of cats that will never know the warmth of a CRT monitor on a cold winter night.

A month ago, I upgraded from an older 20" ViewSonic flat panel to a pair of these VX1940w monitors. I've been extremely satisfied with the experience. As a software developer, I've had dual monitors on my last two jobs, so I've gotten really spoiled. The ability to have so many windows visible (not just open) really is a productivity boost. Just look at the specs and the price, that says it all. The resolution is fantastic; though not full HD, HD content looks great on it. At the time of purchase, this was the only 19" LCD I could find with a WSXGA+ resolution. OSD is easy to navigate, and the stand doesn't look as absurd in person as it does on the website. I bought the monitor as a gift for my son. I set it up, it looked great. Walked out of the room and came back in a few minutes to a black screen. Turning the monitor off and back on gets a screen for only a few seconds. Tried it on another computer - same result. I used the on line support from viewsonic.
