The product name is misleading. The 2008 update is really a 2007 update since Garmin is already advertising the upcoming 2009 update.

I'm a truck driver who has driven over 250,000 miles in 42 of the 48 lower states in 2 plus years. I have a Garmin 330c streetpilot and had purchased the 2008 update 6 months ago thinking it would of course...update. It was and is a major disappointment. Not much can be said of a GPS up-date. But just a warning. We have more than 1 Garmin GPS in our household and the up-date can only be used on 1. We had to purchase another one to up-date my husbands GPS.

Nice update, though there's still a LOT that is missing. Stores that have been there for years are still not in the database, as are some streets.

It's surprising that most vendors are still offering NT2008 at a higher price than NT2009. If you are going to shell out 50+ bucks on a bunch of cartographic data, why not get the latest and greatest? That said, NT2009 isn't spectacular but given that it is cheaper and has a few more POIs, that's what I recommend.
