One-button scanning to searchable PDF processes are supported, and users can even scan directly to Microsoft applications (such as Word and Excel). There's also a new multifunction quick menu feature for protecting and sharing documents with ease. In addition to the ability to scan business cards, the S510 can scan color pages in duplex at 18 pages per minute. Compatible with Windows 2000 Pro and later operating systems (including Vista), the scanner features a speedy USB 2.0 interface. This is my 4th ScanSnap - big fan, started with their early models. Each new model seems to be better than the previous. Great value for the money.

I work in real estate as an abstractor in Ohio. I had tons of files taking over my home office until I bought this scanner. An Attorney that I do some work for has 5 of these in his office and suggested I get one. I am so glad that I took his advice b/c this this thing has been a life savor! I wasn't crazy about the included software at first but have grown to like it. I have title work that sometimes includes copies over 100 pages long and this scanner has no problem handling the load. I am happy to agree with the other positive reviews. This thing works! Hooked up to my new Thinkpad, it is a rocket with only one paper jam due to 2 pages stapled together (my bad) and 2 pages that simply refused to scan as 2.

Clearing paper jams is a snap and the software is intuitive without being annoying. Everything should work this well. I am going to buy a second one for my home. It does not replace a scanner for photographs, but for documents, bills, receipts, etc, it is perfect. ... Read More

A fast document scanner like this one can be a huge help in organizing your life. Six months ago, the S510 was about the only game in town for a reasonable price. Now, there may be better options, especially for rather heavy-duty users like me. The pluses have been well-written about, so I'll give only the minuses:

I found this on Amazon during a search to replace my old scanner. I have had it two weeks and let me just say this scanner is amazing and you should buy one immediatly.
I had over 2000 photos that had been in storage and I would scan a few now and then. When I got the new ScanSnap I scanned over 2000 photos in about 2 hours with no problem whatsoever.
It took me a while to get used to the menus, but once I did, it is a breeze.
