The monitor's 5ms response time is essential for hard-core gamers, and it's also great for watching high-intensity action movies with fast movement. It offers a high level of brightness with a 300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) rating and a 700:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a monitor's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The screen also has a 170-degree horizontal and 160-degree vertical viewing angle.

The AL2216Wbd has a 22-inch screen (measured diagonally) that is framed by a thin, black bezel. The screen housing measures 20.2 inches wide by 16 inches tall. HDCP -- High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a form of copy protection technology designed to prevent transmission of non-encrypted high-definition content as it travels across DVI or HDMI digital connections.
Response Time -- The amount of time it takes for a liquid crystal cell to from active (black) to inactive (white) and back against to active (black). It's measured in milliseconds (ms), and the lower the number the faster the response time--translating to a smoother picture with fewer pixilated or ghosted artifacts.

- spectacular monitor
brilliant, great color, no dead or stuck pixils. i love all the territory on the screen. for example, if you do a google image search, all the results on each results page fit on the screen at once. i can have more documents open and see them all at once. it simplifies photoshop-type work too, with a larger screen requiring less scrolling around. it doesn't run that warm. there are fewer convenience connections like for camera or memory sticks than higher priced alternatives, but my computer ... When I set this monitor up and watched it the first thing that came to mind was Amazing Purchase. If you are on a budget, stop thinking and buy this. For the price, ranking, and size there is none like it!

I plugged it in (to my new HP) and it worked perfectly! No set up (even though it had software just in case)

Why pay more for the exact same thing?

I thought about giving it 4 Stars because its not perfect BUT only because its base is non-adjustable. However, the price negates qualifying that in its review. This is probably the most economic widescreen LCD you can own. It really is in a class of its own for the price and I have never come across a monitor that revolutionizes viewing like this does. There is nothing even remotely like it and people who want to buy a 17" monitor just need to add a fifth of the price more and they have a 22" widescreen.
