Description:
A year after the battle of Waterloo, dispatches from India warn that a local Maharaja is threatening British interests. Wellington sends Sharpe to investigate on what turns out to be his most dangerous mission to date. The cast, including Toby Stephens as Dodd, Michael Cochrane as the sneering Simmerson, the delightful Irish actor Daragh O'Malley as Sharpe's loyal sidekick, and the lovely Padma Lakshmi as a sultry force to be reckoned with, are uniformly strong. But it's Bean, with his world-weary demeanor and craggily handsome features, who commands this rollicking yarn. The film, shown on British television, was shot on location in glorious, dusty, romantic Rajasthan, India, and the whole effect is equal parts Raiders of the Lost Ark, Master and Commander, and the American TV hit House, with Bean wearing heroism and cynicism quite comfortably, thank you very much. What do you expect, wel it is in here again. Sharpe's at it again and lots of action.

I own all of the Sharpe movies, so I was really excited when I found out that this movie was out. It's based loosely on Sharpe's Tiger which can confuse some things because the movie takes place after all the other movies whereas the book takes place before all the other books. They had to twist a few things to make it fit. Even though a different production company made it, it's up to par with the other movies though I dearly miss the introduction..

As someone completely ignorant of the Sharpe series I was impressed with Sharpe's Challenge and look forward to the rest. the script is excellent and it has been masterfully produced. I had expected action and was not dissapointed; the swordfighting alone is spectacular. I am an avid Sean Bean fan and it all began with Richard Sharpe! This next phase in his career is a nice touch to the Sharpe's saga. I thouroughly enjoyed this addition!!

I really love the Sharpe Series. And this current movie is no exception but, for that it is based on a novel that chronologicaly preceeds the other sharpe stories. I would have prefered a fresh original story. Nevertheless, Sean Bean delivers his usual great performance. I look forward to more dramatizations of this great historical fiction character.
