I-listen is the most frustrating piece of soft-ware I bought in years. The documentation is insufficient and the program does not perform well at all. It produces garbled sentences and the correction function is impossible to use. To compare, I read the same sentences to a free web-based program that converts to email voice notes that you leave via your cell phone. This latter program had a 100% accuracy, I-listen produced only word salad. Stay away from I-listen.

I purchased v1.7 and found that my voice was in the half of the population for whom it did not work well (almost not at all). I finally sent comments to Apple, as this software uses a Phillips engine that is licensed to MacSpeech and Phillips has a reputation for making pretty good stuff. A few months after that, the v1.7.1 update appeared. Documentation of this software is very poor on all levels, including the info on Amazon! If you do not know someone with the same Mac and OS who is already running this software successfully, DON'T BUY IT unless you can afford to blow the money! The speech recognition may or may not work for you. The transcription software IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS PURCHASE. You will need to invest more money for an extention if you want to use a digital recorder, DESPITE the fact that Amazon pairs them when you go ... Read More

This is the 3rd software I have tried for speech dictation. I would dearl like to find one that requires little training, and does not drastically drop its recognition rate once you go off of the training text and on to your real work.

iListen is nicely thought out and easy to get set-up, but I find the work and workflow changes needed to get it to have a high rate of recognition just too great (just like all the others I have tried). So I guess I'll have to wait another few years and see ... Read More

Bought this software because the old fingers and wrist were showing signs of carpal tunnel. Since I have an intel iMac at work and a non intel at home I bought the universal version. Am hoping it will allow me to register on BOTH of my computers.

This software is for dictation (docs, email, letters) and advanced mousing and computer/software commands and I use it a LOT for blogging on livejournal. Saves me time and fingers!
