Ratchet: Deadlocked takes Ratchet and Clank on a mission to locate several famous heroes who have mysteriously disappeared. The good news is the duo located the missing people. The bad news is they find them after getting captured by the same person who has been going around stealing heroes. Now Ratchet has to compete in the game and go up against the deadly Exterminators, to save himself and his friends.

- Not Worth Buying
I was sadly disappointed in the game, and as a huge R&C fan, I still bought it. One of my favorite parts about the other games was exploring the different worlds and the adventure themes. In this one, all you get is the endless arena battles. I feel like the game lost its element of excitement and adventure. The new guns were interesting and I especially liked the napalm mod, but the music and limited space are very annoying. Also, the controls are altered, which really confused me at the start. ... Ratchet Deadlocked is a shooter game. Unlike all the previous games in the series, it's just about shooting the crap out of everything in sight. The cut scenes are the best I've seen in any R&C game, probably because they are so needed to smooth out the endless string of arena battles. While this game takes away the platformer aspect of the series, it features the best Graphics, weapons and gameplay on a PS2 for the whole series. Definitely worth whatever great price amazon is selling it for now.

The Ratchet and Clank series certainly has evolved. The first two games were platformers with heavy running and gunning elements. The third game threw out the platforming elements for the most part, turning it into an action game with limited platforming elements. And it also introduced a new element, Annihilation Nation. Ratchet: Deadlocked is a disappointment to be perfectly honest. Having loved Jet Force Gemini I was hoping for this game to really be on par with it.

The game's main problem stems from the fact that the levels are designed in arena like areas filled with enemies and often a 'go to/kill that/push that' objective, then after beating that area you move onto the next area and do it again and so on.
