With a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 1,500 ANSI lumens and SVGA resolution, the PB6100 gives you more.The PB6100 also utilizes proprietary BenQ video-processing technology to support the latest DLP chip set from Texas Instruments. It is HDTV-compatible (480p, 720p and 1080i) with direct YPbPr/component (through VGA port), S-Video and composite video inputs. The new DDR DLP chipsets produce flawless pictures that won't fade or degrade over time, and the optical engine lifetime exceeds 100, 000 hours while maintaining the images' original clarity.

The PB6100 from BenQ is a digital light-processing (DLP) projector with a bright, accurate image and many useful features. Using a digital micro-mirror device with double data-refresh technology (DDR DMD), this model supports resolutions up to 1,280 x 1,024 (800 x 600 native resolution), while its high 2,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,500 ANSI lumens of brightness provide easy-to-see images even in well-lit environments.

HDTV compatible (480p, 720p and 1080i), the PB1600 has component (through VGA port), S-video, and composite video ports and supports NTSC, SECAM, PAL, and NTSC 4.43 video formats. A 31 to 250-inch image size allow you to adjust the projection to best suit your environment, while selectable 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios provide even more display options.

The PB6100 has a 1:1.2 optical zoom ratio and 10x digital zoom, and can be front, rear, table, or ceiling mounted. A picture-in-picture function allows you to display both computer and video projections on the same screen, and the remote control lets you control the projector from anywhere in the room.

The 200-watt UHP lamp has an approximately 3,000-hour lamp life (economy mode), while the optical engine lifetime is over 100,000 hours, ensuring brilliant projections for years to come. The 100 to 240 VAC, 50 to 60 Hz power supply consumes a maximum of 285 watts during normal operation, while the 34 dB noise level won't drown out presentation speeches or conversations. The PB6100 accepts both PC and Mac inputs, and comes backed with a three-year limited warranty.

I confirm that this BenQ projector has either a crappy bulb or bad color wheel. I have used it for about 2 years, only watching movies on the weekends. The recorded bulb usage is 337 hours, and the picture already starts to flicker. At first I thought it might be the 25 feet long signal cable, so I disconnected the cable and just watched the blank blue screen, still flickers! Its promised bulb time is 2000 hours in video mode. Low-budget home theatre owner here. Was happy with my unit. Pretty nice picture on a blank white wall. I have a dedicated cinema room that is pitch black so was very happy...until one hour ago. After 300 hours of use my bulb blew. And I never watch more than 2-3 hours at a time, so definitely not a high traffic user. Word of Warning. I purchased a BenQ projector and had it for a month before it started to fail and turn itself off. I sent it to BenQ for repair and have not recieved it back. That was over two months ago. I phone them every couple of days and get only lip service, they keep saying it is coming. So before you purchase a BenQ product think about the possibility of it getting repaired...or should I say never seeing it again.

Component DB15 to 3 RCA was a real problem to find out.
Online you can easily buy something around $200-400 but it
would be a waste of money. I found out only two options at the moment - buy a budget Steren 253-525IV cable ( 25' long) - price varies from $20 to $60 online , thus spend some time to shop around ,
second option was to build a custom made cable out of shielded Cat5e cable. Do not know which one would be a better one

I did a lot of shopping around for a projector on a budget. The Benq 6100 has been great so far. It is very easy to use and the menu is easy to navigate. I actually prefer the picture on the economy mode to any others. This is great because it extends the $400 lamp by 50%.
I have my theater set up in a 100% dark basement and the lumens are great. However I didn't have to add much light to see that you may not be happy if you can not control ambient light. The only complaint I have with the ... Read More
