The ProSafe VPN Client software is easy to set up and works seamlessly with the full line of NETGEAR VPN/Firewall routers. It is also compatible with IPSec VPN solutions from other manufacturers. The software supports many connection types and Microsoft Windows platforms.

The security protocols supported include Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Data Encryption Standard (DES), 3DES, Message-Digest Algorithm (MD5), and Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-1). A wide range of Smart Cards, Public-Key Infrastructure (PKI), and Internet Key Exchange (IKE - Main and Aggressive modes) systems are also supported.

Easy to Set Up
When used with NETGEAR ProSafe VPN/Firewall routers, NETGEAR provides pre-configuration files for the easiest setup, minimizing any extra costs. A graphical user interface lets you configure certificates and policies. With the included modules, diagnosing connection problems is easy.

- No support, doesn't work with Vista
I think the title about says it all. I couldn't get the software to work with my Netgear router so I called support. Since my router was out of warranty, they wouldn't provide me support even though I just purchased the software from Amazon the week before. They indicated that had I purchased it from them, they would support it. (I'll check tomorrow, but I think I have a newer router elsewhere that I can use to get support).

- Cisco Capatabillity
Unfortunately I had to return because I use the Cisco VPN at work and needed this to be compatible. It was very easy to set up but I had to uninstall the VPN client when I need to run my Cisco VPN client and then reeninstall the Netgear VPN client when I want to run it.

- Very poor quality. Never consider it for your business.
Few clicks during the first installation, blue screen..... It killed my networks (Ethernet & Wireless) configuration. Very poor quality. Never consider it for your business.

I've been searching around for IPSec VPN software that would be compatible with my Netgear FVS318(v1) Firewall/Router before I decided to buy Netgear's VPN01L. I came across three (3) others that were known to work without any problems. I've tried their 30-day trials and came to one conclusion. They're all proven difficult to set up, especially if you don't know much about setting up VPN tunnels (I'm relatively new to it).
