This talking book comes with an interactive "magic pen" that works like a hand-held computer mouse pointer. Children can opt to turn the paper pages and listen to the story read with different voices for each character. Or they can interrupt the read-aloud session to play with the magic pen (permanently attached with a wire). They can point the pen tip to any word on a page and hear it pronounced, or touch a picture and hear a sound effect (such as "Strike one!" for the baseball bat). Very similar to the popular Living Books computer games, this 10-by-11-inch book is more portable than a home computer. Stories in this set include Lil's Loose Tooth, Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever, and Winnie the Pooh in A Sweet Good Morning. - Leapfrog LeapPad
I bought this for my 5 year old and it was pretty much a hit. She likes playing games on my laptop more, but spends a good deal of time using her leappad. It has a microphone with which she and her sister love to record themselves and play back. We've taken it with us on vacation and kept them busy when nothing else would. She's already learned all of the planets in our solar system and the moons around Jupiter and she's only 5!

- Reader is great; wish the books were as durable
I've had the pink Learning System for a couple of years now and it's great. My kids were playing with it a few hours ago. It's been dropped, banged around, moved, you name it and it still works great.

Be aware though that the spiral bound Leap Pad books are not nearly as durable. All of our books have ripped; I believe each one is missing at least one page.

- Great but remember to fuel the fire!
My sister got this when she was four with about 6 books included. I think my parents should have bought books along the way to keep up her interest with the leap pad beucase now she doesn't use at all becasue she knows the books and game backwards and forwards.

So if you plan on buying this and want to buy books to go with it, I suggest spacing the purchases out. Giving my sister 6 books at one time might have seemed like a good idea at first but now she's ready for more, and they haven't ... Read More

Our granddaughter is three years old. We bought the Learning System after her baby sister was born. Babies receive all of the gifts and we wanted Natalie to have something special too. She loves it and calls it her computer. It is easy for her to use. We bought her the hand-held LeapFrog product for Christmas. Another winner. It keeps her occupied in the car - her own personal GameBoy type of toy.

Overall, these are excellent products.

My sister owns this Pink LeapPad and it is awesome!!!
This book will teach you how to read,write,solve math problems,and play games. I am planning on getting a LeapPad myself. It has numerous characters such as SpongeBob,Hello Kitty,and even Leap. If your children are having trouble with their education and they are a girl,get this pink leappad today!!!
