This compact and lightweight EF 75-300mm telephoto zoom lens is ideal for shooting sports, portraits, and wildlife. The lens is distinguished by a newly developed micro ultra-sonic monitor (USM) that makes autofocusing quicker and quieter, along with an improved zoom mechanism that includes a silver ring on the front for a luxurious touch. The micro USM makes this version of the lens particularly suitable for applications that require a fast autofocus, such as sporting events or wildlife shoots. Best of all, the USM version shares many of the same features that makes the non-USM lens so popular, such as a compact size, a close focusing range, and accessory compatibility. As with all Canon lenses, this unit carries a one-year warranty.

Product Description:
Developed to succeed the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 II this compact, lightweight high- magnification telephoto zoom lens covers medium telephoto 75 mm to super telephoto 300mm. Like the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM, it has a metal ring at the front of the zoom ring to give it an upscale image. It uses a DC motor as AF drive actuator. The optical system and controls are the same as those of the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. For environmental protection, only lead-free glass lens elements are used.

Great lens. Very smooth manual focus and zoom, and autofcous is seemless. Well worth the money.

If you are looking for a lens with this sort of focal length, it is going to be your cheapest option. It focuses slow. Really really slow. I have the 5D with the 24-105L, and it is almost painful to switch between the two. If you are trying to shoot a kids soccer game in broad daylight this will suit you fine. This lens is inexpensive, and it shows in terms of poor image quality, among other things. Unless you simply cannot afford something better, I would stay away from this one. I had it for a very short period of time before I got rid of it. Then again, at the price it is being offered, one cannot have too much grounds for complaint.

So far I am pleased with the lens I purchased. I bought it used but it came to me like brand new. Although I have only taken one roll of film with it, and still learning to use it I am pleased with the quality and detail of the pictures.

This lens might be okay for beginners, but if you are into any quality photography
GET THE CANON 70-200 L (f/2.8 or f/4 with or without IS)

CONS
-Slow aperture
-Not sharp enough
-Not an L
-Paint is chipping off

PROS
- Cheep, (but not worth it unless you don't care for quality)

My recommendation... Buy a Canon 70-200 L instead (even the f/4 will blow this lens away)
