Editorial Review:

Product Description:

In 1980, workers at a Jerusalem construction site accidentally uncovered a cache of bone boxes from early Christian times. When reports about the crypt discovery leaked out 16 years later, the London Sunday Times headlined the story as "The Tomb That Dare Not Speak Its Name." Now the full story will be told. In 2005, documentary filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici obtained permission to break through the apartment floor and reenter the tomb. Part archaeological detective story and part early Christian history, The Jesus Family Tomb is a narrative as riveting as any novel.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Interesting reading
This adds another view to the life and death of Jesus. I found this very interesting reading. While I still believe in and read the Bible, I often wonder if we are getting the whole truth or just what someone wants us to know. There are many details left out of the Bible for me and this book gives me something to think about.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - The thesis of this book does not stand to reason or historical investigation
The authors, Jacobavici and Pellegrino (JP), did a good job in this book making an interesting yet meaningless archeological find, appear to be an earth shattering event. The book moves along well and reads like a docu-drama investigation. The thesis of this book is that JP believes the tomb containing the historical Jesus, and his biological family, has been found. This thesis was quite intriguing to me. It remained so until I actually began reading and comprehending JP's supporting evidence for ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fascinating read; well-proven theory
Using statistics, DNA traces, electron microprobes and archeological records, Simcha Jacobovici and Charles Pellegrino explore the theory that a tomb unearthed in 1980 in Israel - about half-way between Bethlehem and Nazareth - is the actual tomb of Yeshua bar Yosef ... Jesus son of Joseph. Also buried in this tomb were two women - one named Maria and the other Mariamne - as well as an additional 7 people. While a few of the ossuary boxes were unmarked, enough contained names directly related to ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Archaeo-porn - fiction worthy of "the Da Vinci Code"
Simcha Jacobovici has written an exciting book that is guaranteed to be controversial. Unfortunately for Simcha, his name has never been well respected in archaeological circles, and I think that the disappointing reviews this book has gotten from respected archaeologists won't improve his stature.

The inconsistencies and poor research used in this book have been better documented elsewhere. Suffice to say that this book reads as if the author started with the assertion that he alone has ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - An Amazing Discovery
If true, the discovery of the tomb of Jesus and his family is astonishing, but the two-headed beast (Government and Religion) has reared up and is doing its utmost to quash this discovery. One can understand the 'beast' however. If the tomb of Jesus were to become public knowledge it could shatter the myths Christianity has encased in stained glass for the last 2,000 years. People, it seems, are afraid of the truth.
